Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can anything be taken from the fact conor mckeon is starting with Mitchell in the bench?

That Mossy Lawler is trying to maximise the number of Connors in the starting team

Wouldn't read much into it. Mitchell started last week. Just rotation I'd say

Mitchell wasn't great against Munster A, mind you neither was McKeon when he came on so probably just rotation
Has anyone seen much of Cian Huxford? Been in quite a few Eagles teams now, starting when he was barely turned 18. Missed Ireland 19s through injury last year I believe, wonder will he make 20s.

He didn't stand out against Munster, but also didn't look out of place so who knows

Our two best performers against Munster (Robb and Wilson) not playing - assuming this due to injury?

Premier Sport saying Hickey out for Edinburgh, Van Der Walt starting apparently at 10
Hickey has looked good so could be a boost

In fairness they are new. Id give them time.

Conan is struggling i feel so far in the scrum. Hopefully will settle

Not much in the way of possession but great defence so far. Boyle with a savage steal at the tail of the lineout right on our line

Lively start from Boyle again with an important lineout steal.

    Tiernan's clearance pure class

Clear from Cockerill's comments that they are targeting O'Donnell in the scrum.

Defence very good so far but need to get hands on more possession.

silly from Butler, could argue he was out of the ruck though

They've had all the possession in fairness and we've done nothing.

Slightly rode by davies there. Tackler has to release before the contest surely??

Bollocks from the tj as well on conan.

Pity thats his last action. Tough game on him

Feels like Butler's been in the bin for 30 years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,372 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

No penalty at that lineout from what I can see.

O'Donnell off. Found it tough going tonight.

Tough night for Conan. Denis and Finlay had plenty of those on the way

They never touched the lifter. Getting absolutely hammered by Davies in this half.

Poor Conan. Doesn't get many chances and it's not gone his way tonight.

Ya its a right of passage for a young prop to go through them. Especially for a lad who switched sides of the scrum. Conan will be better for this

Fair play to mccabe tho. That was a lot better

He even seen it and told him to get off but alas no penalty.

Nel is killing us at the scrum

Should that not be a card for the Edinburgh player trying to take butlers head home?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,372 ✭✭✭✭Utopia Parkway

Going to be hard to even take a losing BP home with the scrum being pinged off the park. Means no possession and no territory.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,238 ✭✭✭✭Diabhal Beag

Davies being a bit harsh on us imo. Still think the scoreline is fair as we've had one 2 minute spell in their half and they've been parked in our 22 and had about 200 scrums.

    This is hard to watch.

Can't even get out of our half or hold the ball for any amount of time.

Very hard to see a turnaround based on that half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,996 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Edinburgh are smart. Nearly every time they win a turnover on the deck there’s a man off his feet subtly interfering with the clear out. Clever play that you’d expect from a hard nosed forward oriented team.

Honestly this feels like we mucked up on selection. Nel is known for being a strong scrumming prop and weve left our best lh at home. No word on any injury so far so whats the logic in fielding a green lh and a reserve that has stablised things a bit but had a difficult last outting

    Minor rib injury apparently.

That missed tackle from Matt Healy that immediately preceded the Butler yellow was very costly.

    Some Like It TOH
Lucky to be only 10 down really with the way the half played out. Need to get some possession and see can we get our own game going.

Having said that I think Davies/his linesmen are being a bit harsh on us with some of the calls. Conans last one for a case in point did him for pulling the lifter out of lineout after he had barely touched him. Was a shame that was his last act but he was having a tough time against the experience of Nell. Hopefully will learn from it.

Boyle has been a positive again for us the lineout steal and break he made. Didn't realise he had such gas

Too much lateral running. All Edinburgh are having to do is drift. Need hard running lines and options off the shoulders

A couple of times there the double pull back has been on and connacht haven't used it.... Theres space out wide if they can get TOH on the ball as a playmaker
