    As above.

Also, why do they not field candidates at elections?

Answer the thread title and it's answers your supplementary question.

It's probably something to do with people wanting a decent standard of living, some basic rights to choose how they live their lives and a wish to enjoy a relatively free existence.

They are a registered party, if they were to field candidates at elections they could get seats.

While in all likelihood they wouldn't get many seats, they could get some.

Would people vote for them? Why/why not?

What I'm asking is if they were to field candidates at the next general election would they get seats? If not, why not?

The what party of Ireland? Never heard of them and I'm sure most haven't. Maybe if they did a bit of PR and told people who they are and how they will ruin our lives, they might get more support.

Gulag closed down, not enough resources to fund it.

Sinn Fein and PBP soak up all the far left vote so there is no room for another party.

Because capitalism, every cnut wants more stuff than all the other cnuts, and the reason why communism in its purest form never works.

    Certainly wont be voting red.

I'm not in support of it, but I'm just asking:

Could a Lenin-style revolution happen here to make Ireland a fully communist country?

    Why/why not?

BTW I'm asking these questions out of mere curiosity.

If the above were to happen, Ireland would become the first properly communist country in history.

Ruth Coppinger is a full on Trotskyite and she holds a seat.

    No
Reason - why would I vote for a party that hates me?

A good party, great bookshop & they did the state some service (hate that phrase), no question. For all that I don't like to see them knocked.

I'm just curious that why the party doesn't have any seats and if or why not a Lenin-style revolution would happen.

I hear Lennon and the Boylesheviks made great gains for the Roscommunist Party in the last local elections and now have a seat on the Tulsk UDC.

    The revolution has begun!

I am being serious. Could the equivalent of the Lenin-led Russian revolution happen here?

    If not, why not?

    Competition is fierce.

    Ok.

No. Because only a very small minority see anything remotely attractive in the concept of communism.

Be prepared for the “but why?”

    True.

    Because it's a proven failed ideology .
