Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Since at least 1634, when "An Act for Keepers of Ale-Houses to be bound by Recognizance" was passed by the Irish Parliament. That was the first generally-applicable law, but in many places before that local powers had the right to control licensed premises in many neighbourhoods - e.g. you couldn't open an ale-house in the City of Dublin without the permission of the City fathers; you couldn't have an ale-house in the Liberties without the permission of the Archbishop or the Abbot, etc.
