Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I got a phone call recently when i ordered one & saying, there were actually none in store, regardless of what was online, but went ahead again to order, just to see & saw this popup appear:
Web Exclusive! Extra 10% off Everything! Must End Midnight Christmas Day!*

Thanks. Though went in with order number to Coolock n ur man in the bicycle section said they must have been sold off prior in clearance section. Think he kept them to fill his own hole.

    That's unfair.
They are not in the bicycle section in my store. The staff could not find them on the system, they were in the 'gifts' section.

Well it is fact. I was sent from downstairs originally. Ironic that I've spent hundreds there on full priced products and only a couple of weeks ago was in when I was offered the change of €100 instead of a €50 when the foreign lad serving me Irish colleague said he would have kept the change when I pointed out the mistake!

Was in Halfords Swords yesterday buying an inner tube for the bike, €5 each or 2 for €7.50.

Also 60% off cycling clothes, mainly jackets though.

Snow shovel €5, I paid €20 for one in Woodies earlier this year.

is this jump-starter any good? I need to get a set of decent jump leads, but noticed this was half-price...100 down to 50

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,157 ✭✭✭✭Alanstrainor

Aldi/Lidl do jumpstarters from time to time, my mother got one years ago and it still works perfectly. Super yoke. I think I'd wait for the Aldi/Lidl ones tbh.

I have this for a year or so now. It works well - I've used it 10+ times to start a car and occasionally a motorbike - but recently there are way more compact battery packs out there - that looks more like a portable battery pack for smart phones.

    Example:

I think its always reduced as I bought it in Jan 2015 for €50, but its well worth it. Charged it, then left it in the boot and it worked first time any time I needed it. Had to replace my car battery in the end anyway but this yoke defo recommended.

I ordered the Halfords Industrial toolbox bundle. I noticed on the UK site they have a choice of colour which isnt available in the ROI. So I phoned my local shop and they said they could order it in for me and it would be €350, but I mentioned I wanted the flash sale price of €315 but that I wasnt able to order blue because thats not for sale in ROI. So he spoke to systems guy and they have ordered the blue ones for me and they will manually reduce the price to €315 at the till when I ipck them up on Wednesday! Cant wait now as its a great price for these boxes. I was actually going to order these a couple of days ago at €350 because that was a great price, but to get the blue limited edition colour and for €315 its a steal, a bargain, the sale of the fcuking century!

I think Fr. Crazy wanted people to have a referendum on whether there should be a rising. If that was approved, he then wanted them to give advance notice to the British Army of the rising and full military plans, probably taking out ads in the newspapers too so to speak.

Wrong thread? Or a daydream?

Yes, the normal price for this item in blue is £350 for the bottom part, and £260 for the top part. Thats €807 at the interbank exchange rate. The item isnt even sold in ROI normally. So to pay €315 for it is awesome, a steal, a snip, a snap, a bargain never to be repeated.

Tools in it? hahahaha you can certainly buy tool boxes with tools in them, which would be just about better than chocolate. These are high quality tool boxes, with huge weight carrying capacity with all drawers on ball bearing runners. This is not your average run of the mill toolbox.

:o Was on the phone / on my break and hadn't scrolled back to see if it was posted - managed to avail of the 10% off on a few items myself and wanted to share the wealth :)

(also got an extra 10% off the balance with my Axa card - can be hit or miss depending on the sales assistant - I think the policy is you can't use the Axa on already discounted items)

You cant just say "Halfords product" and then make assumptions upon its quality, thats incredibly naive. Halfords do not manufacture them, they just have their brand name on them. The quality is fantastic. People have had them for 20 years and still in perfect condition. Have a look in Halfords next time youre in, you will be impressed. Ive friends who wouldnt use anything ther than Snap On, they dont mind paying stupid money just to keep up their ludicrous collection of hyper expensive tools, yet they even agree that the Industrial range from halfords is very good. Im not sitting here defending my purchase because I bought it, Im defending it because its worthy of defending.

As for the Aldi thing, its not even close to this tool box. The Aldi one has a weight limit of 15KG per drawer, the Halfords Industrial is 35KG per drawer. That Aldi product is designed for the home market and was expensive for what it is.

I prefer to have my tools thrown in every corner of the workshop and make the thieves work for their money :-p

Brother got the old man the aldi/lidl one, it smaller, has less drawrs, the drawer runners are more like you'd expect on a flat pack chest of drawers, the big drawer twists when theres a bit of weight in it and jams the runners, the whole thing is flimsy. No comparison.

Any products on the Halfords.com site can and will be delivered to your local store for free. Just phone your local store and give them the catalogue code from the UK site and tell them to order it for you. Only takes a few days and then you dont have any postage charges. Thats what I did with the tool box I was talking about a few posts back.

I thought I may as well post a few pics of it, just to show off. :D

What rate do they use to calculate sterling/euro when you order an item from the UK?

It doesnt work like that. They have a price for the ROI. Living near the border as I do, I always check each site to see what works out the cheapest. Normally in the ROI its always a bit cheaper.
