Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Black Blazer or Navy Blue Blazer?

    I'm getting a slim fit linen blazer for casual wear and I'm torn between getting a black one or a navy blue one....

    My questions are....

    1. Can you wear a black blazer with khaki jeans?
    2. Can you wear a black blazer with grey jeans?
    3. Is there any way you can make wearing a red t-shirt underneath a black blazer work?

    4. Can you wear a navy blue blazer with khaki jeans?
    5. Can you wear a navy blue blazer with grey jeans?
    6. Is there any way you can make wearing a red t-shirt underneath a navy blue blazer work?

    If anyone can answer any of these questions that would be great, also any general advice is welcomed!

    I'm also a little concerned that its harder to make black look casual than navy blue?

    Could depend on the cut / shape of the blazer.
    A blazer in general is going to be more formal than casual, but still 'smart' casual anyway.
    Wearing a t-shirt & non formal footwear will be a start to help de-formalise your outfit.

    I would answer yes to all the above but would say that navy would win over black in each case and also in general. Don't think I'd opt for a red t shirt with either though. Maybe depends on the shade.

    I would say yes to nearly all of your questions above. However, I would advise you go with a navy blazer as I will be more versatile in my opinion.

    Also on making a blazer look less formal it really depends on the cut of the blazer and what you pair it with.

    Promod have some lovely navy blazers at the moment, not linen, but I think would work for both a casual and more formal look:

    I'd plumb for blue as well. Black is more formal, and linen is more casual, so they are fighting against each other. I'd even step out on a limb and say get a lighter, but not very light, blue. It will be summer casual after all, and you want to pair it with light trousers.

    And wear your kakhi/grey jeans when you try them on before buying.
