20 gone, Wicklow 0-00 Offaly 0-12 could be a right hammering on the way.

Amazingly it took them 6mins into the Galway and Cork game to realise the Cork goalie wearing white/white and Galway wearing white/white warranted him putting on a blue jersey.

I was wondering the same. What method was used for giving out the 100 tickets?

For the Cork Westmeath football game yesterday, all the tickets went to the players families.

Going on the last few games, Clare v Waterford in the first round of the championship should be some game. A goal festival.

Yes there could be a lot of goals. The cynical foul rule is paying dividends. No doubt the naysayers will call it poor defending.

I have changed my mind on it about 5 times in the last two weeks, should be a cracker - the Munster Championhip as a whole looks mouthwatering and should be four top top games.

Nerves at me already and it's 2 weeks away

    Could be a great championship

So if Kilkenny beat Wexford/Laois and Galway beat Dublin/Antrim then the Leinster final will also be the league final.

Very tasty matchup if it comes to pass.. my money would be on Galway but then again you never know.

I'm not trying to be funny when I ask this question. But if it does transpire that Galway and kilkenny Meet in the Leinster final, will either padraig mannion or Adrian Mullen have to go up twice of just lift the two cups up at the same time?

It sort of downgrades both competitions that their respective finals are combined imo.

Should follow Offaly and Down and play it next weekend. If it transpires that Galway vs. Kilkenny is the Leinster final not one iota of thought will be given to a league final. Completely devalues the league as a whole.

The GAA is full of late finals and half finals, deferred, disputed, reversed finals during world wars, civil wars, Spanish flu the whole works.

    Don't worry about it

It's a strange twist of fate that the year the GAA ban the practice of 2 captains receiving trophies is the first time that it could serve a useful purpose; the scenario you describe of winning 2 titles....

Was in Croke Park today and they have the original Bob O' Keefe cup. You would definitely need 2 captains to lift it

Yeah that was a ridiculously big trophy

I remeber hearing at one stage it was the biggest trophy is sport..... not sure how that is measured.....
Probably eclipsed by some of the golf trophies

Ah I really like that trophy, it's unique, too many trophies are completely generic and boring. Same reason I didn't like the change to a new and boring Bob o Keefe. Even if the u21 trophy it's ugly, which I dispute, it's memorable. Not comparing it to the world cup, Liam McCarthy or Sam Maguire, but all those are unique and have personality. The Heineken cup and champions league and things like that are all interchangeable and dull.

That Indy 500 trophy is horrifying. It's got all their heads on it like something out of Game of Thrones

No discussion on big trophies is complete without this gem. Used only once for the inaugural Tri Nations competition. It's reputed to have been due to the specs being in cm but the makers using inches, but since it was made in South Africa the manufacturer would have most likely been using cm as well.

I still do wonder how at no stage did anyone in the manufacturing process stop to question the absurd size of the trophy they were making.

Rugby definitely has some of the ugliest trophies around.

The GAA could really do with copping on too with the lower division trophies that all look identical. Give them all a distinctive shape and it will help with the marketing.

One kinda big but possibly the nicest trophy in sport is the Giro D'Italia trophy. All the winners are written up along the spiral of what is known as the never ending trophy

Is the 7 subs rule in place for the Championship? It'll certainly be an advantage to teams that favour the running game.

I remember reading the announcement on Gaa.ie and it only mentioned league in relation to the 7 subs iirc. Nearly sure it made no mention of championship , so unless Croke Park makes an announcement fairly soon, it will be back to just 5 subs.

Also I think the rationale behind the 7 subs was because of the limited pre-season and the increased risk of injury. Given the number of subs was reduced from 6 to 5 not too long ago, I would be surprised if 7 subs are allowed for the championship.

Peter Keane looking for the 7 subs to be kept for championship
