I really think there should be. Currently the radio stations are mostly very manly.
Like the weekends for interest... All sport everywhere!Most women hate that and there is literally no alternative!!

The only one I can think of is BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour. I don't think there is an Irish equivalent.

Isn't 2fm all women, with women guests? There's still the sports hour, but they have women presenters.

It's a bit childish though, alot of it is not interesting to listen to. I'd like more discussion programs, where we can learn alot.

90% of healthcare staff are women. It’s very womanly. There really should be a male only hospital staffed only by males. All the women in the mainly women dominated hospitals talk about women things all the time - most men hate that there and there is literally no alternative!!!

This would not be even vaguely financially viable. Nor would it be so if it was targeting, employing and interviewing only men.

What you've proposed sounds like...radio stations we already have. Diverse programming for a diverse audience.

People like sport, even women like sport! It's one of the most popular things there is.

(And, FYI, if you did a little digging, you'd find that radio production in Ireland is actually pretty dominated by women)

As a female I wouldn’t be interested in this at all. If you want to see more discussion programmes outside of sport fair enough, but they would be quite weird and boring if excluding a whole half of the population!

I expect the reason they don’t exist is because there is absolutely no market for it....

What the OP is describing here is more than adequately covered by podcasts. Music wise 2FM have Doireann Garrihy running the desk on the breakfast show, Jennifer Zampereli in the Gerry Ryan slot, Tracey Clifford for the first half of the afternoon and Jenny Greene for the second half. Marie Crowe leads Game On followed by Tara Stewart up to 10pm. That's pretty much the entire weekday schedule filled by women.

During the Irish Pirate era of the 1980's there was a female focused pirate radio station operating in Galway called Radio Pirate Woman.

You should look to podcasts instead. It doesn't strike me as one there would be a commercial case for and community radio is far too inclusive for it.

As recent as 2002 / 2003 the only female on the entire 2FM schedule with her own show, was Ruth Scott.

The lack of choice on the Irish airwaves isn't a gender issue and will probably never be addressed.

It wasn't too bad in Dublin in the late 90's/ early 00's when the pirates and community radio stations provided something different.

But now, especially since Lyric has gone down the populist route, choice is gone.

And why shouldn't there be one now? There's something to be said for just deregulating the airwaves down to the bone, to encourage more variety.

In fairness to OP, it would kinda make you think.

Newstalk was a man-only station from 7am to 7pm for a couple years in the 2010s. Can you just imagine if that had been all-woman broadcasting? What a joke it would have been. Well, then...?
