    Hey,

A member of my extended family is spending the summer here, 90 days. He is American, has an international licence and wants to drive while he's here.

We were wondering would he be able to buy a ****e secondhand car for the summer & then sell it on when he's leaving. I imagine it would be a lot cheaper than renting all the time - but I can't find any information on if he can even get tax & insurance as a non resident.

    It will be difficult,

Best bet IMO would be to have it owned, taxed & insured by a resident here, you'll likely need to name the US driver as 'open drive' typically only covers an Irish/EU licence.
