"Psychiatry: An Industry of Death" exhibition in Cork

Today sees the opening of a "Psychiatry: An Industry of Death" travelling exhibition at Cork City Hall, organised by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights Ireland (CCHR). Running from 27 to 29 June, this 185-foot state-of-the art exhibit features display panels that incorporate 14 documentaries depicting psychiatric human rights abuses. It provides practical guidance for doctors, lawyers, writers, artists and private citizens to take action in their own sphere to bring psychiatry under the law, and has being shown internationally in more than 30 countries

Included are sections on the destructive psychiatric influence on our youth and psychiatrists' infiltration of the creative industries, resulting in a staggering loss of talent in many artistic fields.

A sampling of current statistics and facts shown in the new museum include:

More than 100,000 patients die every year in psychiatric institutions.

Psychiatrists have played a fundamental role in history's worst human rights atrocities including 9/11, the Columbine shootings, and the Jewish Holocaust.

Psychiatrists and psychologists have raped 250,000 women. Studies show that 10 to 25 percent of psychiatrists sexually assault their patients; of every 20 of these victims one is likely to be a minor.

CCHR Ireland's Executive Director, Peter Finnegan, says, "Education is key to exposing the truth behind the psychiatric industry. The travelling exhibition exposes psychiatry as an industry driven entirely by profit. It graphically depicts past and present psychiatric 'treatments' that have been cloaked in medical legitimacy but which in fact harm and kill patients, all at huge cost."

The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) was established in 1969 by the Church of Scientology to investigate and expose psychiatric violations of human rights, and to clean up the field of mental healing.

Saturday 28th June 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Sunday 29th June 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Church of Scientology, eh? There's an impartial and not at all crazy and unethical organisation. Did they set up this CCHR in conjunction with the Sea Org? Because I don't know how Scientology can say they're for human rights and operate the Sea Org. Oh wait, I do, it's because they're crazy money and power hungry pseudo-cultists who follow a dead sci-fi writer.

Yes the treatments are, in fact, solely designed to hurt and kill people. That makes sense.

I watched a 90minute interview with L. Ron Hubbard last summer and what I can I say, the man is delusional. He would definitely have benefited from psychiatric care

BTW if anyone notices a heap of flyers from the CCHR in their local library (i've seen them in 2 libraries in Dublin), feel free to pick them up and throw them in the bin, and let the librarians know that this cult is trying to advertise themselves in the library - they're really sick of scientologists sneaking in and leaving their propaganda leaflets.

Here's a link that illustrates how those involved in scientology/CCHR operate.

You should download the file near the top of the page and open it. It's a zip file and in it you will find a whole series of emails that were sent between members of scientology/CCHR detailing just how they plan to manipulate the media. One particular entry suggests that members should search for internet forums and post material that attempts to proselytise and advocate for the ideas of Scientology/CCHR.

Haha what rubbish. I would say most of those allegations are more applicable to Scientology than Psychiatry actually.
