FARC demobilize in Colombia

    After decades of fighting the state, FARC rebels are demobilizing. Thousands of fighters are moving from the jungle to concentration zones where they will have to hand over their weapons within the next six months.

    While this makes virtually no difference to the majority of city dwellers in Colombia, it will hopefully bring peace to a lot of rural areas. Sadly, the right-wing paramilitaries (Responsible for 80 percent of civilians casualties in the war) are trying to take control of guerrilla strongholds and the government need to do more to prevent this.
