When used as a conjunction does 'trotzdem' send the verb to the end of the clause or does it invert the verb?

Example:

Er spricht gut Deutsch trotzdem er aus der Schweiz kommt.

oder

Er spricht gut Deutsch trotzdem kommt er aus der Schweiz.

If you're saying what I think you are, it's "obwohl" (although) that you want, not "trotzdem" (whose meaning is more or less "in spite of that"):

Er spricht gut Deutsch obwohl er aus der Schweiz kommt.
(He speaks German well although he comes from Switzerland).

Your second example - if you threw a hyphen before "trotzdem" - could mean something like "He speaks German well - notwithstanding that, he comes from Switzerland". Probably not what you wanted.

Aside: Not that it affects the validity of the grammar, but a majority of Swiss can speak German well enough for it to be their mother tongue...
