Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

HDMI booster cable with splitter

    Hi folks
    I have a 20m (I think) hmdi cable that has a booster pack thing in it to ensure clarity over the distance.

    This cable works very well when used directly between a pc and tv.
    If i try put it into the back of a wall plate then take a 1m to the pc, it doesnt work, which makes total sense as the wall plate interrupts the boosted signal.


    My query is that if I want to put a splitter at the end of the cable, do we think it'd work? Or would I need a specific type of splitter that has another boost feature?


    For clarity, the setup is as below, in an open plan office.
    PC on the ground, with 20m hdmi direct into pc that goes into a floor box and routes up the wall and into the suspended ceiling, then out the ceiling tile to the tv hanging on the wall.
    This was installed before the office fitout. The wall is solid and the floor is not accessible, so i cant run another hidden cable easily.

    I want to get a second hdmi from the pc to another tv. Im thinking of just taking the existing cable and putting it into a splitter in the ceiling, then taking the two tv's off that splitter

    any thoughts welcome

    That should work well enough, just make sure it is a decent powered HDMI splitter, they are not dear.
    If the hdmi to the second tv is a long run, that will need to be good quality cable, and 20m is really maxing it out, if you are going to have any high resolution presentations/video/ppt etc be aware of the very strong likelihood of a cheap cable length being excessive and not working or the images breaking up

    The run from the splitter to each tv will be less than 5m I would think
    The 20m cable with boost will be the in feed for the splitter, nothing else will be anywhere near that length

    So to be clear, you're suggestion is a powered splitter, cheers.
