Coronavirus forum

A coronavirus forum would be useful until this all dies down.

The megathread in Current Affairs is attracting a huge volume of posts. It's pretty much impossible to keep up with it. There is a lot of repetition as a result. The content is pretty varied within it as well.

It is still picking up momentum so it seems like the volume of posts will continue to increase for a while too.

+1 a very good idea which I think would help dissect or eliminate misinformation. Would have to be frequently moderated of course.

The megathread moves far too fast for any meaningful conversations. This would enable more technical discussions or chat about various aspects seperately.
The fast pace enables trolls and makes them more effective also.

it would instantly become one of the busiest fora on boards and should be a no brainer. Costs nothing.

Really don't think anyone needs a forum to chat nonsense about how some DJ from East Coast FM is spoofing about a lock-down in Crumlin.

How about one of general discussion, news, cases etc. and one for more technical/scientific discussion?

So not a forum, but two different threads. It works in the Weather Forum I believe.

why
To organize the discussions. People keep asking the same questions and making the same points because the rate of posts make it impossible to keep up with what has already been said.

misinformation
It would facilitate identifying misinformation imo. A rebuttal of a given story would be clearly displayed if it had its own thread.

As a regular weather head, that's exactly what I was getting at.

What I suggested a day or so ago - amount of waffle in that thread is enough to put you off reading it.

Yes +1. I think it would help to highlight misinformation and promote reliable sources

Was tried in the weather fourm to have two treads on the one event , the mods gave up on it . people will just post on the first fourm that pop's up.
Ended up to much traffic for the mods it was a disaster.
