Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Audio Books

Does anybody listen to audio books regularly?

I love listening to stories on the radio while I work and wondered if there was a cheap place where I could join? I want fresh stories not old classics which I know the plot turned into audio.

    Cheers

    Audible.co.uk!
Get the app for your phone and get sorted.

Is there any option to just buy audio books with committing to a monthly subscription. Audible looking for 9/10 euro a month. I could do without committing to yet another monthly direct debit!

You can just buy books from Audible, without paying a monthly fee.

There is also Scribd - in theory it is unlimited listening but practically it is limited to 4 audiobooks per monthly subscription.

Join your local library and download borrow box. There's a massive selection and you borrow and return without ever going to the library once joined other than to renew each year.

If you are a library member, you can use Borrowbox. Selection is limited compared to Audible and you sometimes have to reserve books and wait for them to become available but it's all free and there are some brilliant audio books on it.

Ah thanks, I hadn't realised that. Looks like Audible really don't want to promote this. You can sign up monthly instantly from the home page, while you have to go a few pages in to make a one off purchase. Flies in the face of their business model I suppose.

The library have a great selection of audio books completely free.
They use overdrive, RBdigital & borrow box, all are very easy to use & have apps.

I'm currently listening to an audio-book that would have cost me an audible subscription or £20 as a one off.
