as opposed to just some maybe, or "schools&colleges" being used loosely to include secondary schools by name of St. Such-n-such College etc ?

....maybe a dumb question, just found some of the info and updates so far about third level colleges bit lacking or confusing

All third level announcements are tied into government announcements with a small level of local variation.

Current plan is that 2nd/3rd/4th years return to university at the end of September, assuming no upswing of the virus in the intervening period. 1st years start the end of October, assuming LC goes ahead on hypothetical July/August dates.

All planned returns include a level of social distancing so expect that blended learning models will be used.

Cannot speak for the IoT sector but suspect it is the same. The above is the most optimistic outlook, as current terms will wrap up around 6 weeks late.

Agreed, they are all hoping for the best but in the background and investing in new servers in the Background. That plan is completely fluid and will change as per the time and place and situation. Prepare for both situations.
