Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has successfully secured a loan for GEM fees (UCD) without having a blood relative as a guarantor?

Unfortunately this is not an option for me as it is just my partner and myself.

Just looking to hear other people's experience of this!

    Thanks!

I am in the same boat. The options I had were to get married or apply for a different loan product (I only qualified for a €10 000 personal loan). There are certainly financial barriers to this endeavour and it doesn't sit well with me at all. I am now in a GEM programme and it is tough financially.

Can I ask, for those of you that have a spouse as a guarantor (or those who were told to get married to partner for guarantor purposes!), did your spouse/partner have an asset to secure said loan? I have heard they look for security from the guarantor in the form of property or a mortgage. Or would they just accept a guarantor with good earning capacity?

    Thanks!

It's case by case. I'd just apply and find out for sure.
