Friday night 18z to Sunday 12z - Force 11 Winds Possible

Yes another one but with the intesity of this one it really needs attention
if synoptics stay the same, Friday night could bring damaging weather to
Ireland :eek:

Whoooooshhh!!!!

Saturday into Sunday looks only WILD!! Severe gales will affect all
of Ireland and the UK througout Saturday Evening and Sunday

That little low to the southwest of Ireland could cause
mayhem as it spreads northwestwards

We're talking damaging winds

it then moves into Scotland

The time in between these two charts could cause
very damaging winds throughout Ireland with gusts
in excess of 80mph possible

Although it could change in the coming runs
it looks very severe so i thought i'd warm

By them charts the most severe winds would be at 9pm
with much of Ireland being sabbotaged by intense storm

Met Eireann are arguably the closest in terms of accuracy and they are not predicting anything special for Friday/Saturday
Their prediction is:
Tomorrow
Wednesday morning will be wet and windy with rain spreading country-wide; the rain clearing quickly to showers which will follow through the afternoon and evening. Winds will ease a little as the rain clears; temperatures will reach no higher than 7 to 10 degrees.

3 Day Outlook:
Wednesday night will be cool and clear with frost in places. Milder air will return for Thursday and Friday. Both these days will be very windy with southwesterly winds continuing to reach Gale Force. Most of the time the weather will remain damp and cloudy. Persistent spells of rain will occur and mist damp conditions will be almost continuous in places, especially in and around the hills and high ground and near the Coast too. Then finally after another spell of heavier rain on Friday evening or Friday night the weather will change again and cooler fresher air will return for Saturday. Saturday will be brighter and fresher with sunny spells and scattered showers. Once more though milder air will return on Sunday with damp mist conditions prevailing and a spell of heavier rain to follow.

No need to batten down the hatches if one looks at this forecast.

That forecast was probably made 18 hours ago, alot
chages in weather in 18hrs but if the current charts
were to come off wind gusts could reach 90mph on Saturday..

I'll put my hands up if im wrong

its the beauty of weather! An feature disappears for
30hrs and then pops up only 36 hours before it arrives

All i can say is stay tuned Southern and Eastern areas
could see sustained 42Kn winds late Friday and through
Saturday Morning as a secondary low winds itself
up into a frenzy, it then plows through Scotlans with
50Kn sustained winds and goes into the North Sea with
65Kn sustained winds..touching Hurricane force :eek:

Yes thats what were Looking at.
The Low is quick moving but very intense. The Highest
windspeeds will affect Southeast Ulster around 4am
on Saturday with gusts reaching 90mph. Structural damage
is likely with Power Outages an eventuality :eek:

Just on the radio a few minutes ago

looks like you were more or less on the money again weather check, met eireann are issuing a weather warning with winds of up to 85mph friday night.

Yes looks reallyu bad although last night was something else too..

Were looking at the south, East and north being worst affected
Looking at synoptics were talking about a widspread swathe
of 45mph Sustained wind around this area from 22z Friday
to 5z Saturday. Were also talking about the possiblility of
75kn gusts or 87mph gusts in these areas. My guess is that Wexford
could do really bad along with all the way up the east coast and
on the north Ulster Coast...

Could be really severe tonight with damage possible and thats after
last nights storm which certainly rattled my house around

I also must mention the possibilty of Blizzards on Saturday
Morning spreading across the country

I reckon much of the country could get some snow a
cold weather sweeps in behind the deep LP

On a serious note, things are really looking horrendus tonight
for Ulster and Leinster and also some degree Munster.

The Wave is currently undergoing rapid cyclogenisis as dry
air is being sucked into the system, things are now looking
very rocky for Northeastern areas as the low pressure is set
to reach its peak over Scotland. Southern areas of Scotland
are bracing themselves for the possibility of gusts tiping 100mph :eek:

Meanwhile ourselves also need to be very cautious. Wind gusts
will regularly touch 70-75mph tonight and into tomorrow morning with
sustained winds of 45-50mph around the affected region. Localised
gusts touching 90mph are possible especially across Northeastern areas
and along the eastern coast. These scale of winds are enough to bring
down trees powerlines and cause damage to houses. Couple that with
the possibility of Blizzards tomorrow morning we should brace ourselves for the worst, ie. Electricity Outages, Road Blockages, Flooding and possible loss of life. Its a case of forget about the hats hold onto your roof

It's very wet and very windy. The end isn't nigh though, no need for all ye sinners to repent or anything.

Some northern counties could get some windy snow but I don't see accumulations getting over 5cm and that on higher ground. The gusts are strong and could well do a bit of damage, but I don't think it'll be disastrous.

Strong onshore winds, coupled with heavy rain could well lead to some coastal flooding in the south, which is a bit of a worry.

Sorry Dapper i dont think you realise that a new system is
deepeing rapidly as we speak and is expected to swing
and crash into Eastern areas....
The British Metoffice have issued a
Emergency Weather Alert for winds of 90mph this sort
of thing isnt seen every day...although things wont be
as intense here, Dublin is in the firing line for gusts
of around 75-80mph, this could cause widspread damage
and just to reiterate the feature is still 150miles southwest
of Ireland and deepeing rapidly..

Nothing apocolyptic is going to happen OK

But it is going to get very bad go out side later tonight
and face 85mph wind gusts...its something most of
us have never experienced it is enough to knock you
to the ground with ease..

a tad dramatic on my part i agree.... but you have to admit the ould weather is changing ever so slowly!! thank god my house is made of bricks not like those poor people in the southern states of america

just to show how lucky we might get with this system and thats
even with 80-85mph gusts bare a though for the poor souls sailing
in the North Sea tomorrow afternoon when our system reaches its
peak, sustained winds are expected to be around 75mph, hurricance
force with gusts nearing 110mph :eek:

I've seen winds 70-90 mph and stronger many times in the last ten years.
you haven't lived

When the wind gets that fast it howls like a banshee....................
howling more like a fox at the moment, might gust to banshee status later,I'll be asleep hopefully if it does
