A very turbulent spell of weather is expected tonight in association
with a extremely active cold front. All areas can expect extreme
wind gusts, which may exceed 80mph in severe squalls. Heavy rain
and embedded Thunderstorms are likely along the cold front with
local Tornadoes possible. The peak in winds will arrive just
before the front reaches which means around 2am in the west
and 5am in the east. A rapid clearence will follow bringing a
sudden drop in temperature and scattered wintry showers.
Something similar is expected on Wednesday Afternoon as a
developing secondary low feature rapidly moves across the
    country bringing severe gales.

Here is a map illustrating the expectation of severe thunderstorms:

Batten down the hatches folks the next 48hrs could be tricky ;)

    Warnings have been issued by
    The Irish Met
    UK Met

Sounds nasty. Can't beat another winter storm. Have you heard anything more about the tornado this week, in Clonee?

Yes a group called TORRO in the UK and Ireland who investigate
Tornadoes are doing a site search tomorrow :) They
are pretty sure it was a tornado due to how localised
and severe the damage was. New Eyewitnesses also
say they saw a swirling mass outside the window, so
its now looking very likely that is was indeed a fully
    fledged Tornado :)

VERY gusty tonight, made the mistake of having the bike cover on tonight.

It filled up like a kite and knocked my bike over (dragstar 650 - this is a heavy bike!) - escaped with some minor damage luckily and narrowly missed the neighbours beemer :)

Consider the hatches battoned down ;)

It's lousy here in Galway. I nearly got blown into road traffic on the way to work, and I'm damn glad I have two heaters for company.

Still, I like a good storm. If you're in cosy surroundings, the noise outside reinforces the cosiness.

Biggest wind gust was 62 mph @ 3.30 last night (Laois) - I found the wind forecasting by theyr.net to be spot on. Looks like the West and North copped the worst of it.

Yep the max gust last night was (71knots) 78mph in Belmullet :)

    55mph in Dublin :)

Overall nothing too severe and less so than i would have thought,
Tomorrow afternoon see's something similar sweep across the country again ;)

Very windy for a valley in South Laois last night! Thought the roof was gonna come off!
