Pepe and Sergio Ramos is just a nightmare of a defensive partnership.

Why Rafa Varane does not start ahead of Pepe is a mystery...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 473 ✭✭DildoFaggins

Sergio Ramos has been turned and beaten to many times this game it's embarrassing that people still think he has ability.

Pepe and Ramos will be busy this season with a cm pairing of Modric and Kroos in front of them ,very little protection provided by those two.
Di Maria also gone ,he did alot of defensive work too, something Rodriguez wont do .

    ;)

His no. of appearances hasn't even reached double figures yet! Of course it's not fair to say james rodriguez is a bit of a flop already.

For all of those who say Barca and Madrid have easy games in La Liga.

Funny watching how Madrid had no midfield to deal with any type of offensive play against them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,038 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

I think they really should hold on to Khedira. At least try to keep someone in midfield who will defend.

He was an impulse buy by Perez .
He doesnt really fit into the team from what I can see.

Ancelotti confirmed khedira will stay iirc, id imagine he will be starting the next game.

Stupidity in the transfer market this summer, buying needless marque players and selling quality that fitted in, has actually weakened this Real team. They not only ignored their problems at the back, but actually added to them by signing an attacking mid to play defensive mid alongside another attacking mid!

Mad stuff by Perez. He's learned nowt from Galacticos era 1

Allowing Xabi Alonso to go is going to come back to haunt them.

It's ridiculous and it's a belief bandied about by those desperate to talk up the EPL as the best league in the world. The reality is that the top teams in La Luca drop less points because they are better than the top teams in England, it's really that simple. English middle and lower clubs are no better than their Spanish equivalents but the Spanish sides do tend to play far more attractive football.

Real won't win La Liga imo. Ronaldo has chronic injury problems thats being going on since last March,Benzema is in shocking form. They sold 2 of there most important players too.

Interesting chart here which shows the net spending in the different leagues this summer.
La Liga clubs took in a net surplus of 50m euro wheras Premier League clubs spent a net 476m euro .

English clubs are worryingly going to spend more and more in the coming years due to the inflated tv rights deal .

How much have Real Madrid shot themselves in the foot in the summer transfer market? So unbalanced. Tut.

Currently the best team in Spain seems to be Barcelona. Very very impressed with their start to the season. Early days yet. Messi still looks a bit static though- which could hurt them against the top teams. Luis Enrique was shouting like mad at him to move and press! :D

Atleti, looking very tough too but they don't look the same level as last year.

So far based on what I've seen in Europe, Chelsea and Barca have set the bar.

Here's hoping Athletic and Atleti can both have really good runs in the Champions League. Both got very fair groups.

Disappointed to read today that Isco might be a target for EPL clubs.

What are Real Madrid playing at?
Why pay so much for one of the brightest young stars in Spanish football, a guy who is going to be a main player for Spain for years to come, only to give him so little playing time and maybe force him out to get games?

I think he's a fantastic talent and would be a loss to the league.

Real have been nuts this summer however Isco didn't do a whole lot with the opportunities he got last season. Jese passed him out in being a real exciting talent. No doubt he's a superb player of course, but Isco didn't impact the games he got a chance in last year, which wasn't a small amount either. He had a decent goalscoring record for his chances but he had quite a few 90 minutes that passed him by.

Sad really ,that used to be a graveyard for Real Madrid ,they failed to win there for 18 years in a row from 1991-2008.
    Deportivo are hopeless now

If anything the past two games showed how great a manager Carlo is. He's really trying to re-twig the team. I don't expect him to last another season but I do think Carlo can restore balance to this side. After Christmas real could look a very different side. They still shot themselves in the foot though.

Atletico have turned it around. 2 goals, from 2 set plays, 2 headers, from the 2 center backs. Certainly deserved, Griezmann is an absolute joy to behold.

And then he gets taken off. Baffling substitution.

Sevilla have started this season extremely well. Carlos Bacca in particular has been excellent.

Yeah I've been impressed! Denis Suarez is doing very well, can't wait to see him back at Barcelona

He lost the ball in the first place, but Rakitic's recovery is fantastic, he really does add drive in that midfield.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

How? How does Messi see passes like that one to Alba? It's other-worldly.

Yep, very impressed with his tracking back there.

    Mathieu on the other hand...

Neymar scores, he's looking far more comfortable this season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

This might be the big break-through season I'm European football for one of the brightest talents in world football, Neymar opens the scoring, his third of the season. The goal courtesy of the unmatched technique and vision of Lionel Messi. Lucho's Barcelona go 1-0 ahead.

Penalty! Messi appears to have a body of velcro, the ball is stuck to him. Levante down to 10 men, Messi though misses the penalty.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Levante's nets must be reinforced because that strike from Rakitic is a cannonball, incredible strike for the new midfield maestro. 2-0

Happy so far. Looks like our unbeaten run will continue

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Very impressed by Barca this season. Can they keep this form going or *shudder* improve?

Also, should levante have both players sent off. They fouled Messi simultaneously. :pac:

That Messi lad is useless. Awful penalty miss. Bottler!

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Great......Neymar injured, seems like he will need to come off. Sandro Ramirez on. Good news is that Neymar seems to be of the opinion that he is ok and wanted to play on. No serious injury and no point in taking a risk even if it does Rob us of witnessing his breathtaking talents for the rest of the evening.

The Barca press is back! Messi is back! The trust in La Masia is back! Optimism is back! Barcelona are back!

Can Alves regain form or is he past it?

This could end at any score now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Alves can still produce but he is past his best.

Flowing, silky football that is typical Barcelona, especially under Lucho so far. 4-0, Pedro finishes a fine move.

They're playing against a demoralised 10 man team. Don't get carried away.

Consider me very much carried away. Tiki taka is back with a vengeance under Luis Enrique.

Bizarre mistake by the Levante goalkeeper, gifts it to Messi but nobody deserves a goal tonight more than the great genius. Wonderful lob. 5-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,289 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

No surprise that Barcelona havent conceded a goal in the league yet now that Pique isnt getting much game time.
He was atrocious for the last 2 seasons .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

Barca playind a different formation this season. Its more like a 4-4-2 diamond than a 4-3-3. I can see Suarez fitting in very well up front with Neymar with Messi in behind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

Yeah Sid Lowe remarked that the team is basically trying the system Suarez will play in already. Messi in a playmaker role for both Neymar and Luis. The team is built for those 3 .

If Enrique gets the balance somewhat right Liam Brady will be regretting his remarks about Barca not being up there with the top top teams in Europe.

I thought that was strange by Brady ,he is normally very shrewd .
Rumours of Barcelona's demise have been greatly exaggerated
