    Hi,

I stayed in a B&B recently and when I came home,
The lights came on as I went in, up the stairs, and the landing.

    I never saw this before.
Motion sensors yes, but not via the hall and landing lights.
Is this available ( and if so where ) or is it a diy job ?

    THanks

    Jay

It's presence sensors you need to be searching for.

Otherwise the lights might go out halfway up the stairs

You can wire them with a dimmer ( and dimmable bulbs) so you don't get the rabbit on a runway effect

    Hi,

    Thanks for the information.
Ideally I was not looking to rewire sections of the house.
Just changing the bulbs would have been the ideal solution,
    if it worked..

    I'll see how it goes.
    Thanks

    Jay

Ikea do a light-and-sensor set. The sensor is wireless. You have to change the sensor battery every 12 or 18 months. But as long as you can use screw-in bulbs, it doesn't need any wiring. They sell a bulb adapter too.

    Hi,

    Thanks for that.
It is exactly what I need.

    Most bulbs are that configuration.
    I have a few G9's. I don't suppose they come with motion sensor ?

    Thanks

    Jay

Philips Hue have indoor and outdoor motion sensors, we use an outdoor one to turn on Hall and change lamp colour in living room when motion sensor is activated. We use indoor sensor to turn on hall lights dimmed when people exit bedroom, great for nighttime

    Hi,

That seems to be what I'm looking for.
Thanks to everyone for all posts.

    Jay.
