I bought a T P link router box over the weekend but can't access the internet on it.I am using an Eir sim card in it.The signal strength is 2 bars.I was using the same card in my phone for the last 6 months with no problems. The box will work with a 3 mobile sim card but won't work with the Eir sim card. The Eir sim card is a €20 per month prepaid subscription. What could be the problem.

Maybe you need to change the APN settings: https://www.eir.ie/support/mobile/setting-up-mobile-broadband/

I have been told that the APN setting are to do with the phone setting. It is impossible to get through to Eir. The SIM card is been used in a router box.Any one else have this problem

You still need to configure the router to use the three sim card.
The APN setting will be unique to that sim.

The 3 mobile SIM card is working fine in the router box.Its the Eir SIM card that won’t work.

You need to modify the APN settings on the router to be Eir's

I taught it was a case of inserting the card into the router and it would work. It is supposed to be plug in and play. No mention of APN settings in the instructions

It wont be plug and play.
Eir use a different APN than Three.

    Instructions here

    https://www.tp-link.com/uk/support/faq/1663/?utm_medium=select-local

May nit be 100% the same as your router but the principle is the same

Do you need to connect the Router box to a laptop computer to change the APN settings.

You can change your "Router box" settings by connecting your laptop over WiFi or Ethernet cable and going to http://tplinkwifi.net

If that doesn't work the address is usually http://192.168.1.1
