Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Parking on double yellow line in a cul de sac

    Hi,

    There is a cul de sac near where i work (Dublin), and it only has double yellow lines (no parking allowed in any part of the cul de sac.

    I see a lot of cars parked every day for the full day and not a single time I've seen a car clamped.

    Does this means that the clampers cannot clamp cars in areas where there is no pay and display parking? If not, who enforces the law in such cases? The Gardai?

    To be honest I'm just pissed off that some can get free parking the whole day on double yellow lines why others have to pay for parking.

    Call Dublin City Council Traffic Enforcement (or relevant authority).

    Double yellow means no parking ever. Doesn’t matter if it’s Pay & Display or not.

    If they are Dublin registered check the tax disc, if it says 'exempt' on it they are 'badly' parked, not 'illegally' parked and there's nothing you can do about it. Clampers check the tax disc before clamping cars.

    Who has exempt on their tax discs? Disabled, residents? I thought double yellow was no parking no exceptions

    There also no residents in that cul de sac, only offices.

    I've also seen car with UK reg plates parked there and not clamped.

    Presumably you are implying they could be either Diplomatic or Garda Vehicles. There's a small street in limerick that runs alongside the Main Garda Station. It's the only road within the City environs that doesn't have disc parking (or yellow lines) and all the cars parked on it are never 'Tax Exempt'....but they would possibly be the private cars owned by people who work nearby ;).

    double and treble parked, it's a bad example.

    Probably a private road. Double yellows are legally meaningless outside of public roads.

    As far as I know, double yellow allows limited parking for loading and unloading only. It may vary depending on local authority but in Galway city, I understand it's 10 minutes while you are actively loading/unloading (my source is a major retailer in the city who confirmed the above with the city council)
