Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

...isn't that what pubs are for? Relaxing and drinking?

Exactly. And it's not like we were just sitting there not buying anything because we both had pints in front of us, we weren't drunk and it was only 12 o clock so he wasn't closing. He let the other people there stay.

Crap happens like that sometimes Shpud. Let it roll off you.

We mentioned it in the village group chat and none of the young people will be going there anymore. My parents said the owner was probably drunk because he's like that but it still irks me

It's a thing that happens in small towns sometimes, might find a publican who really just wants their buddies in the place because they are winding down, or they have ideas in their heads about young folk..

That really doesn't make any sense at all. But as Grem said, just let it roll off and move on

There were American tourists there that weren't asked to leave and there's been times me and my friend have stayed in that pub until about half one drinking. The only other two peope there were old fellas who knew us and were going to buy us drinks before we were asked to leave.

Sounds like a small town/village thing to happen, bit like Grem said

We had a lad running a pub that would go from buying all your drinks one evening to roaring at you before you got in the door another.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

Ah what can you do. We're going to a different pub next week where there's a friend's 18th which should be good.

New series of Big Mouth. Hope I don't have to go outside tomorrow if it's raining. Not sure I'll be able to get my steps in.

Are you on the road tomorrow?.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

Thankfully not. I had a good day going to Galway today though in fairness even though I was in a lot pain to walk.

Lovely.. Don't know what's next up for me.. Lot of head scratching going on..

Indeed. The future is an uncertainty.

Hell yeah, the one thing i try to do most is not let my mind wander too far ahead or behind

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

Yeah the advice I follow is to go one day at a time. At most the end of the month is as far as I plan. After that the future is incredibly vague.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,480 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

Planning some things i don't mind i guess, i try not to let me get in to 'what if' mode..There be danger.. Grem goes off down the black hole of anxiety

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

I'm exactly the same. Been doing better the past few days to not worry like that.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,480 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

It's damn hard to keep at it, i lose my way frequently and find myself spiralling but i'm trying to learn how to catch myself..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

Yeah I lose my mind on regular occasions

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,480 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

I like to think i've settled a bit but i still get wobbles

Hopefully it's something I'll get better st dealing with as I get wise and mature like you.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,480 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

*blushes* Ah you're a clever one. You'll be ok..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

Sometimes i fear that's a bad thing. Only makes the overthinking worse.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,480 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

That's a whole other argument, bit philosophical, would being ignorant be more blissful?. I think you are going to have some amazing conversations with people when you hit college.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

Ignorance is so much better. When they told me things about pain and the future when i was younger i didn't know what it meant and it didn't bother me. No i know how bad things are going to be bad so I'd prefer to still be ignorant.

    Conversations about what?

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,480 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

Things like the advantages of ignorance in certain situations

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

True. I like to apply my experiences to debates. We do them a lot in religion and I enjoy them.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,480 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

Nice, it's good to give that part of the brain a run out sometimes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

I think so. It's nice to also have have conversations with people who you can just talk to easily. I'd say I'd be able to talk like that with a few people from Boards.

Yeah there's such a variety of people here and then certain places people kinda gather and gravitate

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

Yeah so much variety it's made. Such an interesting cross section of society. I'd love to go to a Boards beers sometime

    Haven't been to one myself..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

I've only met one Boardsie myself and it was interesting. She was a lovely woman, nice to talk to. I'd like to meet more especially from the where are you right now thread

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,480 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

I met two, neither here anymore though i think.

Always a shame when a poster closes their account. (Says the guy on his third account)

Haha well these two did say they were going, there's others who just disappeared leaving an air of mystery

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

To be fair I've done the same. Didn't think I'd be coming back when i left either.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,480 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

It happens, i try not to let myself get too bogged down.. People have a lot going on elsewhere

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,749 ✭✭✭Shpud2

Very through. We could choose to portray a very one sided view of ourselves here if we wanted

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Regional West Moderators Posts: 60,480 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gremlinertia

I'd say it's very escapist for some, whereas i would have been much more myself here than in real life in the early days..
