    Exactly. As is the case with all cases of medical negligence, and even other compensation claims, the impact and costs to be incurred over the remainder of the plaintiff's life are taken into account.

    As a parent of a profoundly disabled 14th year old i feel uneasy about the size of these awards for individual familys while 1000's of familys in very similar living conditions have to beg borrow and steal for any morsel of help from the HSE!

    Any child born with a disability deserves to have a minimal living standard afforded to them but that is not the case in this country!

    No parent had a disabled child desintly all should be treated the same and their needs should be met regardless of how the ended up in their situation!
