Anybody know if this company is still operating?
The name came up during a recent conversation with an old mechanic who
used their gaskets over his many years repairing engines.
I think I read somewhere that they were no longer in business?
Google doesn't tell us anything so would appreciate some info here about
this company if anybody can help.

J Payen (Ireland) Ltd. Operated in Ballindine through the 60’s and closed in the early 80’s.

They supplied Ford of Cork, McCairns Motors (Vauxhall) in Santry, Brittian (Morris Minor) in Islandbridge and various other companies with all the required gaskets for the manufacture of cars.

They also supplied Waxstat Thermostats and a wide range of Aeroquip hydraulic hoses with various threads and bores.

They also supplied CIE with Axle Box gaskets for the goods train wagons.

They also supplied GEC in Dunleer with Immersion Heater gaskets.

You could get Headsets, Sumpsets, or individual Rocker cover, Carburettor and Manifold gaskets.

If a gasket was not available you could have one cut specially if you brought in the engine or machine part that needed the gasket.

The same service operated for hydraulic hoses and all tooling etc. was manufactured on site with a local workforce.

Great days with Mk 1 Escorts and Billy Coleman, no CATS, DPF’s or bunches of grapes hangin’ off the engine.
