    Do you need to have a degree in psychology or mental health nursing to do a post-grad course in CBT or DBT. What is the best accredited DBT course?

    Route:

    Psychology bachelors, (4 years) (open to everyone regardless of age) OR Counseling and psychotherapy Bachelors or Masters (4 years) (open only to mature students)
    Foundation CBT course at Trinity (1 year)
    practice and accreditation (2 years, can start it while doing foundation course, especially if you did your bachelors in counselling)
    Post Graduate CBT course at Trinity (2 years) (option to possibly skip the foundation course if you do a counselling course and specialise in CBT, not an option on every counseling course)
    then you can go on to do something in DBT or get a masters in CBT

    The DBT side of this is at least 8 years away so any information I give will most likely be out of date by then. Hopefully by then there will be lots of DBT post graduate course options.

    (You can do the foundation course in CBT with a degree in mental health nursing but I don't know if you can continue up the ladder without one of the other undergraduates?)

    The requirements for the PG Dip in CBT are a qualification in Mental Health + 2 years experience.

    The MH qualification can be:
    Clinical or Counselling Psychologist
    Psychiatrist
    Counsellor
    Psychiatric Social Worker/OT/other allied health profession.
    Mental Health/psychiatric nurse

    If I recall correctly. Check the UCC, TCD and QUB websites
