Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Partick Thistle F.C.

Billy Connolly used do a gag about thinking as a young lad that the name was Partick Thistle Nil.

An Irish contender: always liked the name Home Farm F.C.

There's a club in Navan called OMP. I'd say everyone in the town has played a game for them at some stage. I didn't find out until about 5 years after I played for them that OMP stands for:
    Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Park.

My favourite has to be a Chilean club with the most ridiculous name I've heard:

    O'Higgins.

I used to play for a team in Cavan called AC Killann. We were always waiting for a team called Internazionale Killann to pop up for a decent local derby.

Allow me to introduce you to the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League. It boasts teams named Chicken Inn, Dongo, Flame Lilly, Triangle United and Wha Wha.

Outside of the top tier you have Shabanie Mine, Black Mambas, Motor Action, Lengthens Kuwadzana and my personal favourite Hardbody FC.

Can't believe that Bohemian's have not been mentioned!

I've always thought it's an absolutely brilliant name for a football club.

Think I heard before that UCD's official name is University College Dublin Faculty of Sport Association Football Club giving them the longest name of any club in Europe. Probably boll*x though.

Have seen a few when gambling on line...

    Chile:
    Lota Schwager.
    Magellanes
Curico Unido (sounds more like a Spanish supermarket than a football club)
A match between Cobreloa - Cobresal anyone?

In Uruguay you have Rentistas which is probably Spanish for rent boys... Or not
    El Tanque Sisley
    Miramar Misiones

    Japan:
Yokohama F Marinos .. you can guess what the F stands for when they screw up a bet.

    Jamaica:
    Humble Lions

And then Africa where you might as well post the entire leagues from Ghana Botswana who up till last year had a club called Miscellaneous in the highest division.

    I ll stop now.

They are back to their old name The New Saints

Their old name was Llansantffraid F.C . They used to be nicknamed the saints and when they needed a new name after Total Network Solutions was bought out The New Saints lets them keep calling the club TNS.
