County Golf is still my go to. They won't deliver to Ireland directly anymore but I always went through AddressPal anyway. You will pay VAT through AddressPal since January but I bought a full Adidas Waterproof set for less than €100 all in, paid something like €12 in VAT on it. Thanks for any help on this - the prices there are very competitive so I’m just trying to work out what the catch might be and calculate the total cost.

Yeah it was a mistake by An Post, I ordered 3 things that came to about €100 but they put crazy values on each item that put it over the limit for customs so I got charged VAT and customs on that one. As I said I had to claim it back and it took ages but even with that charge it still worked out cheaper than buying locally. Their stock seems to vary a good bit but you can get some really good bargains if you keep an eye out.

You should only be charged VAT once you keep the order value under the €150 limit but I would just say be prepared for the possibility of An Post making a mess of things and you getting charged a bit more or less than you thought.

Our club are running a golf society day on 22nd May. Are new restrictions likely to allow it?
I would have said no chance a few days ago, but todays announcements seem to allow it (cross country travel, multiple households meeting outdoors).

Forgot to update on my order, arrived Wednesday, some lovely tees with it and a personalised thank you card. Ordered Medium and fits perfect, never checked the percentages but I wore it for 9 today and found it very comfortable. I'll be ordering again, tempted by their head cover for €20. My M2 driver cover is in bad shape and €20 looks great price.

I've been wondering how many greenskeepers each club have. Do you know how many your own club has?

I think my own has 6, which considering the size and cost of membership seems on the low side to me.

Anyone else ever think about this or is it just me!?

Noticed that myself recently when I went back to order another mid layer in a different colour that there wasn't any stock. Might be waiting to release new stuff as a lot of the outerwear is on sale so I assume its older stock with new stuff on the way. Strange that they seem to have loads of polos, I'd have thought given they're in Ireland and with out weather that the outerwear would be a better seller.

4hrs 40 minutes for my first full 18 holes stuck between two groups of buggies. Until everyone shakes the cobwebs off I'm guessing this will be common for a while.

Not so sure about that, admittedly was in 2-balls on Sunday, but timesheet full and we got through 18 in my place in about 3hr30. And I was playing with a slow guy (32 handicap thats a talker)

12 holes 2 hours 5 mins

4 ball for 18 holes on Saturday I am expecting 4 hours 20 mins at least

We were quite fast as was the group ahead and behind, the group two slots up was very slow.

Less than 200yd drives will make Headfort New a long round for anyone, they probably should have tried the senior tees for pace of play but considering we're just back I'll hold the anger inside for a few weeks haha

Played Friday night in a two ball and got stuck behind a two ball in a buggy. Lads could barely hit the ball out of their way and were celebrating when they hit it. There was a society not much better ahead of them. But the two lads hadn't hit a drive more than about 180 yards all day and are waiting for the green to clear on a short 320 yard Par 4 before teeing off. Or waiting for lads to clear the green when they are 250 yards out, absolute madness. We were at 4 hours after 13holes so skipped 14,15,16 and played 17 & 18.

On 18 behind one of the society groups. Par 5 with water to consider on your second shot. Fella eventually puts his seventh shot into the water. Look not a big deal, but every shot was leave the bag 10 yards away from the ball, out with the rangefinder, back to the bag, standing miles behind the ball lining up the shot, 4 practice swings. Duff it 20 yards. Repeat.

Couldn't hack that every week. I don't mind playing with people who aren't good (I'm one of them sure) but just be quick.

This would annoy me. Not that i have played many courses in ireland but played a few abroad and the lack of rangers in ireland is terrible. Problem with job is that everyone plays it for different reasons

Has anyone used Kepel gloves yet or have any thoughts?

I bought a few recently as I got a 20% off code. The quality is decent and the designs are very nice in person. They do seem a little overpriced though, especially at full prices. I've used Callaway Opti gloves and they're just as good at a cheaper price point.

How many days? Ballyliffen is a long trip but two smashing courses and great value with great hotels in the area. Pop in and play Buncrana 9 hole and Northwest in the same trip.

Round trip next week. Both 2.5hrs away from me. Had the week booked for golf since last year.

Ballyliffin for me eventhough I have never played it but i have heard great things. I have played mount juliet a few times and I don't know why but it just doesn't live up to the expectations.

I've always been fairly indifferent to Bryson but this has changed my mind about him and not in a good way. It's like an episode of entourage, he lives with all these randomers who seem to serve no purpose other than fawn over him. It's still an interesting video and I hope he puts more out as you rarely see insights like this into top golfers lives on tour

They are being a little pernickity over email about booking. We are playing 19/20 June.

At the moment i am unwilling to pay a full deposit until it is confirmed in stone that restrictions in Donegal will be easing in line with the rest of the country in early June.

This follows on from last year when we had the trip organised but they were unwilling to offer a refund when 2 of our 4 ball had to self isolate due to a positive test before travelling.

Not willing to hand them another 320 euro before finding out that restrictions wont be eased in Donegal.

They are currently insisting on the deposit so i told them to cancel the booking at the moment.

Would be nice if i got another member of the 4 ball to ring up and was able to get it for 50 euro a head.

I'm playing Saturday and paid up front. I rang and it was 80 a head, maybe its donegal residents only or something

I don't dislike him for this. It's a very young man's lifestyle, if he's still living like that in 5 years time I'd probably judge him for it. But I lived with friends until my early 30s. I didn't have a choice, I couldn't afford my own place, but if I had I'd definitely have wanted to live with friends until late 20s.

He certainly seems like someone I wouldn't be friends with, but I won't hold that against him.

A majority of members voted to change the policy, which has been in place since the club was founded in 1894.

The vote saw 83.4% in favour of the change and 16.6% voting against.

Up to this point, the club's rule 3 stated that: "The club shall consist of members and associate members who shall be gentlemen properly elected and who shall conform with the rules of amateur status."

I'm still trying to develop a swing, piecing it together bit by bit, week on week. I watched a video last night about the feeling in your legs and body in the back and down swing. So I did the drills out in the back garden and felt something clicking, everything felt like it was flowing easier. However, without being able to hit a ball I wasn't quite sure if it was another false dawn before actually trying to hit a ball. I nipped out to the driving range with my hybrid, 6 and 9 irons and hit 50 balls. I reckon I only duffed 2 of them. The penny may have dropped. Absolutely chuffed and really looking forward to my round tomorrow. I know I'll still duff a few but limiting the 10 yard dribblers will make such a difference.

It's nothing revolutionary so you might be doing this sort of thing already. I've always found my movements very stiff and this helped a lot. Hope it helps you.

This is something I learned from playing on a hilly course. With ball above my feet I would tend just rotate my upper body in the swing, it rarely went well. I found if I try and move my feet in the same I do when swinging on a flat lie it works a lot better. I don't really understand the mechanics of it but there you go

Anyone ever done an on a full day course lesson with a pro? Need to sort out a few bits in my game, and i was thinking an on the course one would be better then the range. Just worried a full day might be too much to try and remember if i'm out there for 8 hours.

Yeah the 2nd market is all over the place but still some sensible people out there too. What I don't get is why people don't have a quick look to check 1. what are other similar clubs priced at and 2. what price is an equivalent new club. The amount of people selling well used 2/3/4 year old clubs for similar price to current or year old models is mental. Seeing lads looking for €200-300 for an m3, Cobra f8 or Ping G400 when you can get some of last years models for that price brand new is just crazy.

Still some good prices to be had to be fair but overall the 2nd hand market is not great at the moment in terms of pricing.

I take it this is in a group setting with lots of other people? Personally I wouldn't fancy that, as you say its a lot to take in in one sitting. I'm considering doing a 9 hole playing lesson with the local pro and see what he has to say.
