Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Is anyone a co in a Garda station?
    What does the work entail?

I am, tbh it all depends on the office you are assigned to when you arrive on your start date. CO work could be typing, filing, finance, counter duties (immigration, psv etc). If you work in a Sgts office there's summonses, courts. If in one of the new HR offices you could be dealing with courses, reporting of births, deaths etc, recording of sickness etc. There is a huge variety of work but it all depends on where you work.

    Hope this helps.

How in depth is the form?

At the moment its an average of 5-6 months waiting. There's a huge amount of vacancies in the area I work, very difficult to get CO, lots of new EOs but no CO.

CO could be doing an enormous range of tasks in a Garda Station. Clearance as above could be months - the form requires every address since birth but other than that doesn't ask much - it's the checks they do in the background that take a while.

8am to 7pm however the running of the office takes precedence so you may have to work a standard shift pattern which is 9 - 5.45 (5.15 on fridays).

But its still only 7.24 hrs a day?

Cheers, would you know if that is the case in more than your station?

I'm not in a station, AFAIK though most stations have flexi. The pattern I mentioned above is just the standard civil service working day which some offices in the Guards are on.

Completely normal - but if you've only just submitted vetting strand 3 takes months.

Indeed. This is the standard language for vetting.

Strand 3 is a bit of a mystery as it's done outside the vetting Bureau and varies from person to person.

So you might not need to submit any further details after strand one? They do it all in the background?

It's possible and it's also possible that the guards will call out to interview you. I'd say the vast majority of cases though dont require any further info just a lot of patience.
