Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone is in the same boat.
Completed reference forms for AGS in August, got a call two weeks ago to say my references were not valid anymore as i haven't been in employment for the last two years (left job to stay at home with kids, applied for competition not long after)
They asked for a character reference for the last two years which i provided but have heard nothing since ???

I think it's just that they are only looking for a reference for the last year from everyone and the fact you haven't worked over that time they asked for a character reference. I wouldn't worry just yet. Have they contacted the character reference you gave?

If I was to guess it would be mid to late January before they start to offer the majority of us places. The timing seems to match up with Brexit with most of are reference being checked two weeks or so ago which would of had us ready for if it happened. Then they got another extension so we basically just have to wait. There will still be a few vacancies opening so they will still be hiring the odd person up until then. As I said it's just a guess but this is just what I'm telling myself so that I'm not panicking too much.

None of us it seems have really heard anything since the references, I honestly feel like they’ll drag this into the new year

Have you made contact with HR in Navan?

My post is a city suburb; got the call about week after references were checked....

I did a number of times in relation to other stages of the process but not in terms of a start date and location because going off of other people’s experience on here, most said that after 2 weeks of our references being contacted that we would receive a start date and location but obviously it has gone over that amount of time. I’m going to give them another week to contact me and if they do not, then I am going to call them everyday relentlessly as if there had been a death in the family because all of us here that are waiting on the same thing have the same thing in common, and that is that we are all now compromised within our current jobs as because of the reference checks they know we are leaving so it’s a constant thing of being given the worst work and hours to do because “ah sure they’re leaving anyway” . So to sum up my little rant, if they think they can throw all our files into a pile for over the Christmas and just go and enjoy their time off while we’re all reliant on this single phone call, then they have another thing coming. This process will be entering its third year shortly so it needs to end, enough said.

Honestly it’s all just speculation at this point but if you were to judge it based on the timing that it has taken to get this far in the process then yeah I think you’ll see Santa Claus himself quicker than you’ll actually see anybody in HR lift a phone. I think you should because you just can’t rely on these unpredictable people. It’s only four weeks of work anyway so it’s not like you’re properly committing. Extremely frustrated haha.

No idea, yeah weeks ago but still quiet

Heard nothing, references contacted weeks ago as well. Looks like the whole process will take a full year considering we applied for AGS specifically in February when they made an expression of interest. Stuck in retail for Christmas....

Bit crap when they have already contacted references to then not follow up with the job offer. I was sent the details of where i was going within a few days of them contacting mine

    Finally got some news everyone😄
Just received a call from HR earlier and got a location assigned (National Bureau of Criminal Investigation). :)

Start will be in January. So I'm sure you'll hear something soon enough as well. :)

Sounds like it might be an interesting department.

I did, I actually did end up getting called in the end, so thanks everyone for all the info and advice over the last few months.

  • Registered Users Posts: 831 ✭✭✭rsl1976

That's brilliant, congratulations. Do you know where you are going?

  • Registered Users Posts: 17 KDBkev123

I actually emailed them earlier to see what the story was. I then got a call in the evening which I missed, and 10 minutes later I got an email saying they’re still awaiting vacancies, but why call me if it wasnt for an offer? So now I’m confused if I should call them back or not due to the email saying nothing really...

Where and when mate? About time especially all the hardship you had to go through in this process! Delighted for you :)

Definitely call them back, that email was probably generic!

Thought that too! Suppose I should ring back and just enquire again it won’t do any harm. Just weird how they rang only when I emailed them this morning.

Put it this way, they wouldn’t bother ringing you to tell you something that they could just send in an email to fob you off so if I was you I’d be calling that number back in the morning.

I called back, they said expect to wait another month so that’s 2 months in my mind so I’m mentally prepared for a start in April now!

Anyone else get that email about shift work patterns in AGS?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 85 ✭✭Nihiyminoy

I’m hoping that some of you got called in the end??

  • Registered Users Posts: 17 KDBkev123

I rang them last week in regards to the expression of interest for shift work patterns and he explained the whole process in general...basically there are little to no vacancies at the minute so people are only being appointed when a vacancy arises, due to retirement, promotion to EO, transfer etc that’s why it’s so slow. He said last year they had an easy time filling vacancies because there were so many but now it’s very slow moving...
