Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    They both manslaughtered somebody?

Eh, I hope that's not the link!
I didn't know that story about Keith Moon and his chauffeur (interesting read) but I can't imagine Mama Cass ever killed anyone, unintentionally or otherwise.

So this one is more of a general knowledge type link - if you like music and trivia, there's a good chance you've heard it before.

    Clue:
a freaky coincidence surrounding their respective deaths

Ha, I know now, but I just read about it. That's mad.

Anyone out there know the link?

Here's a third clue, if it helps:

    220px-Harry_Nilsson.jpg
This is Harry Nilsson, who was part of the freaky coincidence that connects Mama Cass's and Keith Moon's deaths....and no, he didn't kill either of them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,372 ✭✭✭Neowise

It's such obscure trivia that i doubt many people would know it without looking it up, which i did.

the answer is in this spoiler, which I found on the wikipedia page of a.
a and b both died in seperate incidents, both at the age of 32, and both while living in c's gaff, which he had lent out to them, seperately of couse.

I didn't think it was that obscure. :o It is a mad coincidence though. What isn't true, however, is the 'urban legend' that Mama Cass died because she choked on a sandwich.

Anyway, you're up next I guess!

It really isn't that obscure. There's been far more obscure ones.

Its all general knowledge at the end of the day, so the obscurity level is down to the individuals guessing.

Were they all judges on Reality shows at one point or other?

EDIT: I don't know why I guessed because I don't want to have to think one up, so I hope I'm wrong.

    Not what I'm looking for...

Here's a big clue: they both appeared in the same movie.

Will post more people who were in the movie later if no one gets it

This is why I didn't want to come up with anything, my clues are always not-immediately-obvious-pop-culture based...

Hint: I'm looking for the name of a film.

And here's some additional people as well as the originally posted two...

You didn't have to google it, I pretty much said that in the last post.

Name the movie and take the pressure away from me. I forgot how stressful being the clue-giver is.

But I had to Google it to find the name of the movie, so that would be kinda cheating.

Yeah my anxiety is at a Charades level high now though. I should never have guessed the previous one, I hate being clue giver. Its freaking me out.

I'm forfeiting... The connection is they all appeared in Pitch Perfect 2.

Someone else take a go, I need to bow out of the game now.

No. It concerns the World Cup of soccer.

Anybody want to have a bash before I reveal the answer? It's possibly my favourite quiz question.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,372 ✭✭✭Neowise

    image search say
first is Geoff Hurst, played for england soccer team, ~1970.
second is Simone Perrotta, player for italy, ~2004
I think 3rd is Jimmy Armfield. football player and more.

Is the link that they all played football?

No. I can't speak of the other two but Simone Perrotta wasn't that good.;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,293 ✭✭✭Reberetta

Maybe too obscure, the answer is they're the only three World Cup winners from the English metropolitan borough of Tameside (population: as of 2011, 219,324) outside Manchester.

Simone Perrotta is the last English World Cup winner having lived in England until the age of five. He was born in the same hospital as England's 1966 World Cup winner Geoff Hurst.

All three had statues erected. Perrotta was unaware of his statue until recently.

    ?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.whufc.com%2Fsites%2Fdefault%2Ffiles%2Finline-images%2FArmfieldHurst726.jpg&f=1&nofb=1

    Inscription(s):
Plaque: This statue stands as a testament to Tameside's place in football history as the birthplace of three men who hold World Cup winner's medals. Sir Geoff Hurst MBE England 1966 (b Ashton 1941). Jimmy Armfield OBE England 1966 (b Denton 1935). Simone Perrotta Italy 2006 (b Ashton 1977). It was unveiled on 22 December 2010 in memory of Cllr Roy Oldham CBE (1935-2010) Leader of Tameside Council 1980-2010 after whom the surrounding sports village is named.
