The seasons are great, i find myself slowly leveling up without even trying and then if i focus on, can shoot up the levels and there are some nice rewards, not a penny spent.

Picked this up last night with the intention of playing SP. Got 2 hours in and got disconnected, lost 15 minutes of looting. Disconnected again after minutes the second time I tried and haven't been able to connect since. And of those 2 hours was trying to figure out how to use the C.A.M.P.

That's weird, one problem I've never had is connection problems. I had to look up a vid about using camp but mine consisted of a sleepbag and stash box for about 10 levels and then i installed a floor. Level 16 and still no walls, she's a work in progress.

Assuming Biv gives it to you quickly enough. Took me three weeks of daily quests before he finally gave me Rad Ant.

There is a faction rep grind for some items like ammo making unit, dont recall correct name but then i found out it was in the season pass thingy a while back and likely to return so i found no need to grind it.

You're thinking of two completely different items. The ammo generator (officially "ArmCo ammunition construction appliance") is only available from the raiders at Ally reputation. The ammo converter was available at level 5 of the first season (Legendary Run), and has since been made available again either for bullion from the raiders (at Friendly), or from the Atom Shop (not sure if this was temporary or not).

I put in about 130 or so hours, as posted earlier in this thread really enjoyed it but yes endgame is a cliff imho. Once you are done with the main questlines there's not much beyond basic grinding so no point in rushing things imho, the enjoyment is definitely in the journey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,292 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I'm not getting that journey ye are talking about. Got another couple of hours in, another disconnect and lost a good bit of fighting. Then a deathclaw murdered me when I tried something else after I loaded back up. I think what's putting me off is MT crap. Even though I can completely ignore it, it's everywhere. And I know they got awful flack for this game and it's MT's, but it doesn't look like they changed anything. I would have paid a one off charge to have my own personal offline world, but they want to charge a monthly fee for that? Nah. The disconnects are putting me off it because I'm losing time/effort every time it happens, and I rarely play through a game a second time, so repeating the same bit every time there's a disconnect? Just wears me down.

I would like to get into it, but I don't think I will. Everything seems slower in comparison to the previous games, and I always feel that shiny button saying "Buy stuff to make the game more enjoyable!" hanging above me. It's still installed, but I've just started Dying Light again (for the 4th time, it's one of only 4 games I've played more than 3 times) so it may not get another look.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,908 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Potential, that disconnection problem seems weird and sounds like a pain in the balls. That kind of thing would definitely put me going back if i lost progress. I had a similar thing with hitman 1, a single player game that needed sheets online but would disconnect me every 15 minutes with a pause screen and asking me to reconnect, wrecked the game for me and no one seemed to be able to help as not many other people getting it. Turns out it may have had to do with n at settings the way my isp was configured or something but gave up looking for a solution.

Can't remember if PS works on a hotspot if you can try a mobile network to check?

Phantom, as for food/drink, yeah would rather not have to deal with that mechanic but i just eat/drink in the spot anything i find and put up with the rads, never do much cooking. I got a strong ski sword I'll have to use more as even making ammo, it's hard to keep a steady supply.

Im getting very similar vibes playing Valheim but its all done so much better, worth a look guys incredible game.

Sorry something i should have mentioned earlier re: boosting carry weight.
    Under Armour.
The enclave one when upgraded boosts strength. Probably other as well.

The biggest problem with Falloiut 76 are the baby sitting features like hunger and thirst

You know you don't have to care about that anymore? While it used to be the case that you would get small debuffs and start losing health if they ever hit zero, now those meters are purely beneficial.

Brotherhood and Marine UA upgrades add 1 or 2.
Enclave UA upgrades add between 1 and 3.
Secret Service UA upgrades add between 2 and 4.
Vault Tec jumpsuit upgrades add 1 at the higher ends.

The fact that it doesn't happen anyone else would point towards my connection, but I have zero issues with any other online game. This and MK11 are having the issue, so i'm guessing they don't like Irish country connections. It's FTTH so shouldn't be a problem, and yeah my NAT isn't open, but I can't recall it ever being open on any console before.

I play on crappy wimax. 6 megs and i do not get those problems.

Any word on a PS5 upgrade? I got this free last week but I don't know if I am up for playing it at 30 fps.

You're gonna have to explain when and how they've changed this because I remember it being annoying AF.

Steel Dawn, so like three months ago.

Basically where a pretty empty hunger/thirst bar used to result in a lowering of your AP regen, with periodic damage of they ever hit zero; now it's just no change. Instead you now get a sliding scale of benefits to AP regen and disease resistance if the meters are full, topping out with bonus STR or END if decently satisfied.

If I can remember to do so later, I'll edit in a table comparing the effects.

    |Old Hunger|New Hunger|Old Thirst|New Thirst
    81-100%|Max HP +25|Max HP +35, STR +1|AP Regen +25%|AP Regen +35%, END +1
    61-80%|-|Max HP +25|-|AP Regen +25%
    26-60%|-|Max HP +15|-|AP Regen +15%
    21-25%|AP Regen -25%|Max HP +15|AP Regen -25%|AP Regen +15%
    0-20%|AP Regen -50%, HP -25%|-|AP Regen -50%, HP -25%|-

Didn't realise that change was in place, what a great qol tweak. I'm having a great time following the vanilla quest, currently visiting some bunkers and discovering some great locations and side quests along the way.

So, head to a certain area on the map, do some fetch quests, join a robot parade and earn rare masks? Must give it a try!

    Not again, its mind numbing.

It may not be as punishing but it's still a penalty. For instance, Max HP + 35 with STR + 1 versus Max HP +15 is quite a difference, especially in a game where carry weight is everything and you're going to want that extra strength rather than wasting perk cards on it. All things being equal I just wish hunger and thirst wasn't there.

It's not a penalty, it's a buff. If you can be arsed doing a very simple task, you get a buff, if you can't you don't.

It's no different to sleeping, playing music or using the weight bench.

So i think I'm near the end of the vanilla quest, just hit level 26 and have to get 10 commendations for the enclave and it looks like it's gonna be a bit of a pain. Any recommendations where i can find starred enemies to kill? I already did the enclave event with the bots but not sure how often that spawns!

Also tried Nuclear Winter for the first time just to get my SCORE up for a nice 2500 caps and found it surprisingly fun.

It's pretty much just any legendary enemy, which will appear around the map randomly. Some legendaries are also guaranteed from some events.

Basically it's a "spend some time engaging with the world" quest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,176 ✭✭✭sundodger5

I find the uranium fever event good for legendary spawns.
Leader of the pack is easy and should get you a couple of legendaries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,908 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Thanks lads, gonna check out those events if near my level. Speaking of, I'm picking up a lot of 50+ weapons i have to drop because i can't carry them until i get back to my stash. I'm sure I'll get plenty of good weapons when i actually hit 50 but annoying I'm getting so many when I'm stuck with the same underlevelled weapons mostly. Had a class sniper but it broke on me last night and repair kits seem to be the rarest thing in appalachia.

    Workbench repair not an option?

    What.......

I mean i thought you could repair weapons at a bench but i have a vague memory of trying it and it saying i needed a repair kit? Don't tell me i could have been repairing weapons without a kit for the last 24 hours of gameplay.

Yep.once you have the materials...repair kit are just for when you don't have the stuff to fix the weapon/armour.

Big monsters will get you one - deathclaws, snallygasters, grafton monsters etc - there are lots of those with fixed spawn points.

Any starred enemy will get you one - do the Leader of the Pack event to pick up 3 different legendary wolves...

When you're using a weapons/armour/PA bench, there are two separate buttons - one for workbench repair, and one for repair kit.

You can get more repair kits from SBQ.
Like I said, the game is stingy enough with inventory size and if you're a hoarder like me that +1 strength is going to be a necessity for my tank melee character.

My 370 carry weight when I'm wearing the expanded backpack laughs at that statement :pac:
And let's not think about those people who run Bloodied Unyielding...

Yeah, dunno how I missed the 2nd repair option, must have been in a rush first time I checked. Thanks lads.

Did the leader of the pack and a few enclave events, up to 9 commendations, last one should come soon enough!

Someone dropped a nuke on Whitespring resort, right outside my camp on the cliff overlooking the resort. Birdseye view of the bomb dropping and mushroom cloud, first time seeing that, fairly class.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,908 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

So, is launching a nuke in "I am become death" supposed to be really ****ing hard? I have my biometric card, lasers disabled, shutdown reactor and just have to repair pipes all the wile whit 50 killer bots and savage radiation +20-30 constant.

I guess I could take some rad meds to keep it at bay but the robots are way too much. My sledge is doing okay with walking guys but ceiling turrets are a nightmare. Any tips?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,908 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Nvm, looked up a few things and you need level 3 hacking and lockpicking to handle the robots which comes at level 38, 10 levels above me. Wasted all my ammo and health on it. Went back to my camp and started the wastelanders quest for the treasure hunt and having fun again so will keep at it and come back to the launch the nukes later.

Started playing this last night as its currently on PS+. Spent a couple of hours wandering around farming and unlocking map locations before getting wrecked by some Protectrons. Definitely one I can see myself pouring some time into.

Speaking of which, any hints for a total n00b?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,439 ✭✭✭Homelander

Try and use player camps to buy ammo and stimpaks from their vendors where possible. The vast majority of players sell all kinds of ammo for 1 cap per round.

I think the game is actually easier now than it used to be but for the first 30 odd levels when I started I was constantly struggling to survive and have enough ammo, but I was wasting a lot of caps buying it from robot vendors where it's ridiculous prices.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,685 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Us higher levels have an absolute ****-ton of stuff, so feel free to ask for a bit and/or wait for someone to just randomly pop by and drop loads 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,908 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Any advice please? I reinstalled this as I was craving a FO fix. I loaded up my character, level 32, I was beside a main mission, Find Ra-Ra'. Outside the factory were super mutants that were also level 32. My most powerful weapon (that i have ammo for) is a magnum but the mutants ate about 15 shots before going down. Taking on multiple is out of the question so i leg inside to be met by protectrons who melted me with lasers while my magnum did very little to them. They were also level 32.

So, am i just at a tough mission, are my weapons underlevelled, so i just need to find better weapons?

I know I'll get really get into this game again but I seem to have hit a wall.

Another example is i tried the launch a nuke which i think is end game for the base content? But i get absolutely melted inside the bunker.

I'm a solo player on PS, maybe I stick to side quests to level up and find better loot,?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,685 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

You're at the point of the game that is probably the most infuriating — you've left the early levels and thus the enemies are starting to get much more HP and more resistances, while you haven't yet gotten to the point of having a good set of gear and perks. The more you level up, the more you'll get and the easier in theory it will get. Do check your weapons though, you could be leaving some damage on the table if they are not of the optimal level for you right now (weapons will generally come in more damaging versions every 10 levels).

Nuke runs on the other hand, yea that will almost definitely melt you if you're not geared 😉

Yeah I think Level 32 is pretty low for that quest. Not inherently but because you probably don't have good gear. Forget what level certain guns top out at, some are 30, 35, 50, etc. But get the AK47 or the .45 automatic (forget what it's called) and ensure they are levelled up to the max with perks before trying again. A magnum ain't gonna cut it unless it's got god tier rolls and you have the supporting perk cards for it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,908 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Thanks lads. I said I'd go around to do some side quests and misc stuff but can't up against same level scorched ghouls that were a pain to deal with as well, I feel so weak against common enemies it's weird so i definitely need to find some better weapons and upgrades. I fast traveled to my camp for a break (cool spot on top of a cliff) bit fast travel usually puts me half way down the cliff so I'm gonna have to move it. Get to my camp and 3 rad scorpions spawned and wrecked me, feel like a level 1 character.

I've also not put much thought into my special either with perks all over the place so must go over that.

As for missions, i have the Brotherhood and responders add on quests to do but put off by my current gear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,685 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Your CAMP fast travel arrival point is basically a certain distance directly due north of where the CAMP module is currently placed; and you will spawn facing the direction you were facing when you first placed the CAMP module down.
