If a foreign person from outside the EU is fully qualified as a commercial pilot and is applying for jobs, would they get a job with an airline on a stamp 4 visa? Is there a special passport for pilots that they get? If the person is still 2 years away from applying for Irish citizenship (an Irish passport), could the company supply them with an EU passport or how does it work?

I won’t even try to explain this one but suffice to say passports are issued by Sovereign States to their citizens or persons qualifying by their laws ... no company in the world can issue a passport. There is no such thing as a stamp 4 visa either.

Well thanks for making me sound stupid. Maybe I am. Maybe I am confused and a bit stupid about things. But you did try to explain... hehehehe
Anyway, now that you say it. Yes it was a stupid question. But what I meant to ask was If an airline would hire without an EU passport if the applicant was entitled to one in a few years time? And Is there not a stamp 4 immigration status for foreigners meaning they can live and work freely in Ireland??

    Stamp 4

Stamp 4 indicates permission to stay in Ireland for a specified period, subject to conditions. Stamp 4 is reckonable as residence when applying for citizenship by naturalisation.
    Summary of conditions

You can take up employment and are not required to hold an Employment Permit.

You can work in a profession, subject to conditions of the relevant professional or other bodies.

You can establish and operate a business.

You may access state funds and services as determined by Government departments or agencies.

If you wish to stay in Ireland past the expiry date of your immigration permission, you must apply to renew your permission and registration before they expire.

My point re stamp 4 is that there is no such thing as a stamp 4 Visa. An Irish Visa is permission to present at the Irish Border nothing else.

The OP added the word visa to stamp 4, I dont think that it makes what he is trying to ask impossible to decipher.

Its very unlikely that if you don't have the right to live and work in whichever country the airline is based plus unrestricted access to wherever it flies to that they will hire you. There are also the hurdles to jump through of gaining airside passes and 5 year background checks.

There are plenty of non-EEA pilots flying that are based in Ireland.

You need the proper qualifications to be allowed fly in the EU.

You also require an employment permit to work in Ireland.
