Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I never posted in this thread before, so as I found some older pictures from various rallies in Poland, I though I post them here.

Cinquecento was my first car - I absolutely loved it. Pictures from around 2002.
    Mazda pictures from 2012 afair.

Few pics here of my previous daily, my latest daily and my project!

The previous runaround was a little red Corolla which I used to call the "Cork teenagers wet dream". Bright red hatchback Corolla, a mighty 4E-FE engine and the all important Cork reg, complete with nasty alloys. Not being the biggest fan of Japanese cars I bought it as a cheap daily hack which to be fair didn't cost me a penny and kinda felt like an old pair of slippers by the end of my somewhat brief ownership.

    12669971_10206994504435275_1949903753_o_zpsxkiasleh.jpg

Most recently acquired is a 318is which I have to say I really enjoy driving. Bought this with a full stamped main dealer history, completely original right down to the original floor mats, it's a rare un-drifted version...I think :P Needs a bit of tidying: new reg plates, needs bonnet replaced due to a strange bit of isolated corrosion, bit of paintless dent removal perhaps but it's a honest car. The colour is steel blue and the interior is also blue leather which is rare enough. I've had it a month and have given it fresh oil and filters all round, new rear brake pipes, wheel alignment and a new thermostat plus coolant flush. Not to mention road tax :o

And my project is long term. I've owned this car almost a year and it is currently undergoing a bout of rust prevention treatment as it is relatively solid! Only requires a patch in an arch.

It is a completely original Vauxhall Cavalier SRi with a C20XE engine. Been off the road a decade now and needs a good overhaul of brakes/suspension etc. but is a good runner and solid where it counts luckily enough! Eventually will receive a full respray.

Looking good Norman. Paint looks flawless on the car as well. And even more so when you consider it's age.

Sound, it's in pretty good nick alright, going to get the rear quarter and bumper done and sort the front bumper too in the next month or so hopefully and she'll be back to her former glory :)

I don't normally listen so Spin before anyone says! Just it's the only station that doesn't have news on the hour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,047 ✭✭✭Truckermal

That's odd because when I bought the Avensis of you Spin was preset throughout the memory. ..

    :D

I'm amazed the battery was strong enough to store stations...

You'll note the little "A Sel" icon over the name, which just means the radio did it :p

I always listen to spin sw when I can, food for the tunes. I do be in and out of its frequency path, so have to change about a bit.

One of the few things I miss about Dublin, having a choice of radio stations

Spin sw has a lot of good music for younger people so i'd listen often enough.

I'd rather not have to listen to that dirty Dublin accent on a constant basis :pac:

What do we have, fm104, classic hits? That's all I know.....

Travel a bit with work. In Dublin and satellites I listen to TXFM or Nova. Outside their reach the only station I entertain is Today FM.

Find myself listening to Q102 and 4FM more and more recently. Still listen to 98FM, FM104 and Spin a fair bit too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,925 ✭✭✭GvidoR

I find myself listening to Today FM or iRadio for the most part, but I threw a tablet in the car recently so I'm letting that shuffle my music lately.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,190 ✭✭✭Mister Jingles

Dublin radio stations are piss poor imo. To those who live to far to pick up frequencies from up here, your not missing out on much...

Gave it a try. There was plenty of good music in the 90 but an awful amount of sh1te. They seem to play more of the latter.

Think it depends on the time of day and DJ on to be honest. There are times when it seems to be a lot of Oasis, Blur etc... And then time ms of the day when you get Snap, D-Ream, 2 Unlimited.

It's always time for MC Hammer though! :D

Well, just bought myself a new car. My very first Diesel and very first Alfa. I poped my cherry twice.

Got a good deal on Alfa with only one owner from new 88k miles. Work done in the last month and all by my buddy mechanic, it was a local car:

    Clutch
    Flywheel
    Timing belt
    Water Pump
New Wishbones up front and suspension overhaul
    New starter
Fresh NCT and a lot of other bits done
    New EGR last year.

It has few scratches and bumps, rear for lights will need to be replaced, a bit of rip in leather seats, but wont cost much to fix. All in all very happy. Now I know wtf Alfa owners talking about Alfa Romeo feel. That thing is just such an amazing place to be in. So its true, if you call yourself petrolhead - you have to own at least one alfa in your life. It might break my heart, who knows, but god it feels good, even with dirty diesel.

Ill be honest - the thing damn shifts!!! I was shocked. Filling up full tank was so much cheaper too lol.

Though I already see how much better and more refined this car would be with nice smooth petrol engine. Diesels are really rough in first gear.

Oh, I am second owner of this car lol. One owner from Brand new. :)

Is she leather on the inside? Looks lovely!

Neutral poster? What does that mean in these parts? :)

Oh God yes, she is full leather, bose sound system, armrest, Cruise control etc. I think she is fully loaded.
As said, there is a stitch gone in seats side. Its not even a rip actually. Just need someone good with needle to stich it together. :)
I actually have to have car with leather unless it's bangornomics. For me it's a must extra. To this day I still don't understand how can someone order BMW or Mercedes and don't check "leather, bitches, now!" box.
