Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

'Rivers of London' to become a TV series

    Finally, someone's adapting 'Rivers of London' - namely Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (according to deadline). It's got a studio but a network. Importantly, they'll be working with Aarvonitch closely and realise how important it is to ensure the show is set in London. The first season will be based on the first book.
    I think this could be a great adaptation if done correctly, so looking forward to what these guys produce.

    TBH the books screamed "pitch for a BBC series starring Simon Pegg and/or Alan Davies dressed up as novels"

    and the latter ones ran out steam completely

    Came one here to post about this after seeing it on Geektown.
    Agree, Pegg and Frost could be just the people to do this well especially if they are working along with Aaronovitch. Doc Brown did a pretty good song and video based on the first book. He'd be a pretty good fit as Peter although he's probably too old now to play a probationer PC.

    Never heard of them before. Interesting. Just read the synopsis on that Deadline article and, as Bambi said, purely from that description it screams a 4 part BBC production. Surprised Mark Gatiss isn't involved.

    Remember BBC have a original period War of The Worlds coming out AND (what I'm most excited about) His Dark Materials with HBO. One season per book one assumes (Season two already greenlit). So, what would you call it? Urban Fantasy? And 19th Century/steam-punk sci-fi could get very popular on BBC soon. Bet you William Gibson's Difference Engine will be next.

    Expensive mind you. Especially period stuff.
