I’m looking to buy a van (Vito, Trafic, Transporter) and put in a window cleaning setup into it.

Do I need to register a company to insure the van or is being self employed sufficient?

I’m 42 with about 7 or 8 years of NCB on my car, can this be used on the van?

Which brokers or companies would you reccomend to ask for quotes?

    Thanks

AXA but not sure if you need a broker to go with them. They'll insure the van for business and include social domestic and pleasure.

You can switch the car ncb to the van. You can only use the ncb on one vehicle at a time. I think but I'm not certain that Insuremyvan.ie mirror your NCB so you can keep your car if needed.

Self employed is fine for insurance. I'm not sure how taxing them commercially works. I'm not sure if you need something from Revenue, again you don't need a Ltd company.

Liberty used to insure vans probably still do but wouldn't renew fleet policies a couple of years back and people went to AXA. I'm sure they are still worth looking into.
