Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    First round ties involving Irish players;
    Ken Doherty v Lee Walker
    Fergal O'Brien Fergal Quinn
    Aaron Hill v Ashley Hugill
    Leo Fernandez v Fraser Patrick
    Robbie McGuigan v Mitchell Mann

Gerard Greene comes into the qualifiers at the second round stage
Jordan Brown comes into the qualifiers at the third round stage

And of course there will be great interest in the first round clash of Jimmy White v Stephen Hendry.

Are there any other options for viewing? You have to pay for the Eurosport app don't you?

Ah, they had qualifiers on tv last year so thought they might follow up this time. Not to be. Only option outside of app are the betting sites probably, but you'd need a funded account usually.

€7 for April is good value for the snooker fan imo, particularly if you want to have it on the 2nd screen in work all day every day!

Absolutely. Subscribe now and cancel immediately, you will only pay €6.99, but for that get everything up to the final.

I believe for the qualifiers there will be two tables showing liveon the app, one with commentary. So hopefully we can see some of the Irish lads.

    Thank you.

It would be painful having to pay for the app when I already have the channel.

    What is going on there.

Renewed subscription. Not seeing the Hendry White match shown live.

    Edit. Found it.

They do bury things sometimes on the app

Great to see these lads do battle again. I have 15 euro on Jimmy. Might barely cover the cost of the app that I didn't really want :-)

Poor standard. Like two old fighters going at it. C'mon Jimmy anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,666 ✭✭✭Muppet Man

Ya poor from both. Stephen clearly very nervous in first frame.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 558 ✭✭✭bradolf pittler

Gonna be in for a long night with Jimmy and Hendry.
Poor standard from both and a rerack in the 2nd frame

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Jimmy is potting a few at least, some of hendrys long range efforts have been a tad embarrassing so far. Looks a bit bemused at times the way the balls are behaving! Early doors but a few warning signs.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,906 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

Getting a frame under his belt might help Hendry now.

Potted a few there anyway! But jimmy snookering himself on pink and black after hendry missed sitter to the middle kind of summed up how it's gone so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,479 ✭✭✭AllForIt

Hendry is playing too slow. Like he's being ultra careful or summit, but it's not working.

Anyway, this ls like watching a game of bowls.

Hendry's been so bad i think he might retire again if he losses this.

Half an hour a frame here. They'll do well to finish up by 11.30.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,906 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

Thought Hendry had no chance after he potted that blue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 558 ✭✭✭bradolf pittler

    Massive frame that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,479 ✭✭✭AllForIt

Hendry wins frame 3 after needing a snooker, which he got with just pink and black remaining.

Although I think he was a bit lucky with that snooker as he hit the black first but just right to flick in behind it for the snooker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

How many chances jimmy had to stick pink over pocket there. Shocking frame to lose.

Jimmy deserves a kick in the nuts after losing that 3rd frame. Seriously poor. This is total club level stuff from both of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,854 ✭✭✭zuutroy

Hendry won frame 3 with a high break of 7.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Gaoth Laidir

I bit the bullet and paid an annual subscription to Eurosport to watch this match. I should get good value per hour as it looks like it will be a long match...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Not sure jimmys pressing home his case for yet another tour wild card for next season here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Gaoth Laidir

He really should have made a better effort to pot those two pinks in the 3rd frame. Just tried to lag them towards the pocket without actually really going for them. Came back to bite him.

Hendry winning the mind games as well as the frames.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,906 ✭✭✭✭Rothko

Great comeback by Hendry there. He seems to be getting back into form now and becoming more confident.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,666 ✭✭✭Muppet Man

Vintage 67 clearance from hendry. 5-1 up now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 606 ✭✭✭Holy Diver

Bollox - I thought this was on tomorrow night. Forgot today is Monday.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,666 ✭✭✭Muppet Man

Hard fought 58 from Jimmy there

    Standard is fairly brutal alright.

  • Registered Users Posts: 102 ✭✭paddyref

5-3 is a comeback on the cards for Jimmy, his confidence seems to have improved dramatically with these last 2 frame wins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

You'd have to think hendry will still get at least 2, probably more, chances to finish it off. And may well need a few of them way it's going.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,666 ✭✭✭Muppet Man

Massive pressure now I think on hendry....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 541 ✭✭✭fran38

I'd say Hendry is so embarrassed by his form that it wouldn't surprise me if he went back into retirement even if he wins this match.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Bit unlucky with the split but here's chance no.2.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,666 ✭✭✭Muppet Man

Fair play to hendry. Jimmy was very very poor. Hendry deserved the win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Best thing i can say about that match is thank god it wasn't best of 19. The standard of that and it's ronnie the one who's been talked of retirement today!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,861 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

I thought this was up to 10, lucky it wasn't, bad standard, Jimmy was really bad. Hendry wasn't much better, but nicked a couple of frames from unpromising positions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,472 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Was suspicious of all this Jimmy odds on favourite talk beforehand. Hendry was certainly there for the taking early on. But Jimmy was as bad and allowed Hendry get his arm going and play himself back into the groove.

Hendry might win another match or two and go close, now he has that under his belt.
