Is that really why he moved the money? Surely he knew they could see it was transferred after he killed her?

I read something earlier that he didn't want to be buried...he asked to be cremated and his ashes thrown in the sea.

He left the banking online tab still open on the computer, I’m sure he wasn’t bothered.

Yes he asked to be cremated in the letter and not buried with his family, but this letter was not seen until over a year later.

No i know they didnt see the letter. Im questioning the idea that he moved it to cover his funeral costs. Going by the snippets of the letter thats been reported a funeral that would cost so much it would require moving funds doesnt seem likely.

Why is it an either-or situation he could have had a mental illness and be a bad person a mental illness is not an excuse its just a fact?

I honestly think the interview with the family should be shown to teenagers starting out on relationships as part of a discussion about relationships, to emphasise that uncontrollable jealousy, wanting to control every situation, over involvement in a partner's life, negative comments about weight, appearance, clothes, family or friends, and constant drama is not a normal relationship and an indication that something is wrong and they are not doing it because they love the person. The same with blaming others or a partner for their own problems its not normal its a form of distorted thinking and its not a healthy relationship.

There should be educated on what is and what is not a healthy relationship.

It has been established Hawe had been:

Dressing up in his wife’s underwear and clothes,
Accessing on-line porn on a school computer and phone, and
    Browsing Russian dating sites.

But it is believed Hawe had another even darker secret which has never been revealed to those mourning his murder victims.

    https://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish-news/alan-hawe-revealed-cross-dressing-14053024
“We never found out why and we were advised that it probably would never happen at the inquest.

“But he said in his own words he was caught red-handed and we know that he was looking at pornography on the school laptop and he never brought the school laptop home.

“We’ve had sight of the counselling notes and he had said he was masturbating somewhere he shouldn’t have been, possibly school.

“So we have pieces of information but we don’t know who caught him. We don’t know why he was ringing the INTO, whether it was for advice for a grievance. We don’t know where it happened, when it happened.

“We do know, in the June, he cancelled all his counselling sessions and this all happened the day before he was to return to school so it was avoidance of the consequences he was about to face.”

He was probably thinking of funeral costs. Her family were hardly going to bury him.

If they had been shown the letter at the time they wouldn't have buried him with his victims.

I think he left instructions that the car which was fairly new was to be given to his brother.

I dont think he was thinking of funeral costs to be honest, he was divying stuff up, ie Clodaghs jewellery was to go to her mother, the car to his brother and presumably the money in his bank account was to go to his parents. He took the money from a joint account so half of this was his familys money anyway if he was thinking of funeral costs.

Dont forget he was doing this after he had murdered his entire family.

If he was caught **** at school by one of his colleagues, why hasn’t that person come forward and revealed all? Surely there cannot be any legal ramifications for someone who actually witnessed an event describing that event? If it were me, I don’t think I could supress that information while her family is suffering so much

Jacqueline spoke so lovingly about her sister and nephews

Awful tragedies for the family to cope with:

"This was not the first tragedy suffered by Clodagh's family. Her brother, Tadhg, took his life in September 2010. Three years later, Jacqueline Connolly's husband, Richie, also took his life."

Jesus that's a huge amount of hardship to deal with. Is Clodagh's father also dead? They mentioned that AH walked her down the aisle when they got married, seems very odd altogether.

That he couldn't face going back into that school and facing his colleagues. The murders happened the night before he was to return to work....no coincidence. Whatever happened at work, whatever he did wrong....it was going to die rather that face it. Coward!

Most men would be bored to tears!!

Just wanting to exercise total control from start to finish. It's hard to believe there weren't more alarm bells in various areas of his life.

I only stated the fact because you asked who had caught him masturbating?

I think we are lead to believe it was the work colleague who he told the counsellor he had an issue with?

And maybe led to him cancelling his counselling sessions?

And the reason why, the night before he was meant to go back to school, he murdered his family?

He had ultimate control over his family and in his arrogance decided for them that they couldn't live with his shameful behaviour . Pure narcissistic behaviour

I think he knew they could survive and be happy and he wouldn't let that happen, selfish to the end.

Maybe he was envisaging himself wearing the dress, judging by some of the information that has come out.

Clodagh couldn’t even call around to her mother for a minutes peace and a cuppa without him tag tailing along. There were rumours at the time of their death that he was abusive but there was also a lot of sympathy surrounding any “issues” that he may have been suffering from. So glad we finally know the who the man truly was.

Her sister said it was a rare unusual event if she got to chat with Clodagh without him

Coercive control. Not necessarily physical abuse but the slow chipping away at your self worth, isolating you from those who care about you, an oppressive and domineering presence that makes you fear stepping out of line without them ever having to say a word, having your free time monitored and mobility restricted. This form of control has finally been legislated for this year, and is only now recognised as an act of domestic violence.

Her family never mentioned anything last night about him being abusive towards her but keep going with your personal crusade based on rumours and hearsay. Not defending him but hate when people try and prove facts with rumours and quotes from anonymous sources in the Sun, Star, Mirror etc etc

What I find surprising is how people seem to think they know exactly the type of man he was and what motivated him. I don't think anyone has a clue - even people who knew him closely. Otherwise why didn't they raise the alarm?

It's easier for people to say "pure evil" .... only problem with that theory is that he killed himself. If he was pure evil he would have insured Clodagh and the kids for a ton of money and drove into the sea and "miraculously" escaped to live the life of Reilly. Or some such scheme that benefited him, like that guy who murdered his wife in Dublin several years ago. As it stands all he left is the legacy of being a monster. This isn't some attempt to defend him BTW, it's just an assessment of the facts. He doesn't come out of this a hero as a narcissist would want to.

One thing I've seen from watching some of the serial killer Netflix documentaries is seeing how "normal" people who do this kind of thing are. Several had people swearing up and down that they would never do something like that and that the police had the wrong man. Yet they did it anyway.

As for the records, it is a disgrace that the family haven't been given access.

My OH would be driven to distraction listening to myself and my mother yammer away. He even leaves the room when we're on the phone to one another!

It also sounds like he locked Clodagh down marriage-wise very very fast. They'd only just finished college when they were married, we're talking in the mid-late 90s at most. It would have been pretty unusual unless they were particularly religious (I don't get the impression they were particularly).

Did you even watch the show? They stated many times how he was inappropriate, controlling and had an oppressive presence. She didn’t have a life outside of him. She couldn’t even meet her sister to try on dresses without him there. He didn’t have to be knocking ten bells out of her every evening to be abusive, maybe look up coercive control and it’s psychological manifestation. Oh, and did you miss the part where he savagely murdered her and her children with both a knife and an axe? Sounds pretty abusive to me.

I was thinking about this tragedy last week, before the show was announced. Incredible to think that the family still haven't received the full information on the murderer. Those poor people.

They most certainly mentioned mental abuse and controlling behaviour . Abuse takes many forms and it was noted by those who knew her best

What other evidence could there be?

Does this priest believe that the jury are fools?

It's like he thinks nobody should be convicted unless there's CCTV or forensics. The jury have heard all of the evidence.

    You listening to duffy?
