Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

House with no aerial or Dish

    Hey all, I just got a new LG CX so looking into finally getting an aerial.

    Currently I watch all my tv through a Sky Go account, but wouldnt mind just having some freeview channels such as RTE and BBC. (ideally the other English freeview channels too)

    Is there any sort of cheap internal aerial I can get such as this ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taCBs6iDNLg or would it only work in the UK?

    If an internal aerial wouldnt work, would setting up an aerial in the attic do the job? The house I moved into has tv/aerial ports in each room so they are currently going to waste.

    If attic doesnt work, Im guessing I'd need someone to set up an aerial on the roof. If so what would the cost be there.

    If you live near a Saorview (RTE, TG4, Virgin) transmitter you might get a good enough signal with an indoor aerial. Try any of the cheap indoor aerials to see what happens. But if your neighbours are using outdoor aerials, you will probably need one as well. Scan the two channels / frequencies of whichever transmitter is nearest to you.

    Yes, you need an aerial to receive Saorview. We recommend a professionally installed outdoor aerial for best results. In some areas, a good quality aerial in your attic or living room may suffice. Talk to your local retailer or installer for advice about local reception conditions.

    Freeview (BBC, ITV etc.) comes from transmitters in the UK. Depending on where you are you could get signals from NI or Wales. You would need an outdoor aerial to have any chance. Just as an example this is the coverage map for the transmitter near Belfast, which I can receive in Dundalk.

    To get the full value out of your TV you should definitely get a satellite dish. That will get you all the free UK channels if you connect it to the satellite tuner in the TV. But you will still need an aerial for Saorview. RTE, TG4 and Virgin are pay channels on the Sky satellite service.
