Bottled Water for Filter Coffee

    I make a lot of filtered V60 coffee every day. I'm getting more and more into it and playing around with different recipes. I just use regular tap water, where I am the tap water looks, smells and tastes fine on it's own. It also tastes fine in my coffee but I'm wondering about using a bottled water to enhance my coffee.

    I know there are endless ways of getting your water to different levels of filtration but anyone just using bottled water available in the shops notice any differences? And what water are you using? Of course how the coffee is made, ground and type of coffee will also have a factor in itself with the type of water used. Or is it just a rabbithole to go down :D

    i put our tap water through a britta filter jug before making either tea or coffee.

    we live in a very hard water area, it definitely makes a difference- maybe in other areas it wouldnt tho

    I've thought about a britta filter but read some info that unless you do live in a hard water area they do not really make a difference, some say they even remove too many minerals and as a result the coffee disolves too much in the filtered water. It's a difficult one to know for sure which is the best route to go. I was thinking with bottled water at least the result should be some what consistent...

    I use a Britta filter also. There is also a product called "Peak Water" which is a similar system but specifically for Tea and Coffee.

    You can get details of the water in your area on the Irish Water website.

    The water info on water.ie is interesting, didn't know that was available. Although I don't know enough about it to make sense of the info provided! Will take a look at the Peak water product 👍

    I use a BWT filter jug, but have heard decent things about the Peak, coffeeangel sell them.

    I use a britta now. Haven't tried peak water but saw some comparisons online that said Britta is good enough.

    Might try out a Britta just to see, my tap water is fine just wanted to see can I do any better in my coffees so will start small with a jug filter!

    As others have suggested, I recommend a water filter, either Peak, BWT or Britta. Tap water, depending on where you are, has a lot of added stuff like chlorine which really affects flavour. It'll allow you to have control over another variable allowing for better consistency.

    moved from a Britta filter to a BWT and I find the BWT definitely adds more brightness. Peak water is apparently the best but it looks a tad pricey for me and I've already got enough coffee stuff.
