Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rhyme at least twice within your sentence (or post). The more rhymes the better.

Post a sentence that relates to the previous post, or go in a whole new direction, silly or serious - up to you.

Let's pretend ;) EdgarAllenPoster started us off with:
"Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary"

The moonlight at night is not so bright as is daylight.

when I came across a sprite, dancing in the frostlight to some long forgotten tune, written neath the waxing of the moon

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

It sang and sprang and invited me,
to join in the delightful glee.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

I skipped closer but there was a strange pause,
then all hell broke loose in teeth and claws!

My little dog Scamp did snap and snarl
and in a whirl chased the squirrel,

    which quickly scaled the tree
in fright. Poor Scamp being not so bright circled 'round endlessly.

I called him to, and we set off home.
He was more attentive with promise of a bone.
Shutting the night behind the door,
I settled down for a cosy snore....

After eight long hours I woke sore, a sorrowful bed that flagstone floor.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

I headed to the kitchen pondering the breakfast fare,
and was met there by a stranger's stare.

  • Registered Users Posts: 184 ✭✭ScoobyDosent

She kissed me gently and said please don't stop ,...... before nutting me and roaring "where are the frigging coco pops"

T'was another of the neighbours' friends looking for their fix.
" Feck you! We only got weetabix! "

That's OK Nuala said," don't mind those xxxcks, we'll go back inside and log onto their Netflix"

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

Dazed and confused I let it be,
As those whom persist in endless acts,
You"ll find my sympathy is somewhat lax.
So I had a cuppa tea sweet and sugary.

  • Registered Users Posts: 184 ✭✭ScoobyDosent

The tea was drank and the bikkies ate, now off to town before it's late.
A quick stop in statoil to get some diesel then into work to face the weasel.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

I push the pedal and push red lights,
cool as a breeze yet my grip quite tight.
Some drivers flash me and some give the finger,
sure being concussed I am a complete danger!

  • Registered Users Posts: 184 ✭✭ScoobyDosent

To add to my woes, when I came to a stop
Who was waiting for me? ? Sure only a cop.
I opened the window, my legs turning jello ,he said" where do you think you are? above in Mondello? "

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

" Sorry officer I didn't see you there.
I'm a bit crossed-eyed but I have being taken care...!"
I'll be late for work and I want no beef.
Shouldn't you be out looking for a thief?"

  • Registered Users Posts: 184 ✭✭ScoobyDosent

"Don't be so smart, be on your way,
I've had enough of plebs like you for one day.
Now back to the station, pulse to update
4 hour's of OT, won't that be just great "

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

As he moved away in the mirror,
I yelled to the garda " Yo holmes, smell ya later!"
looked in the direction I wanted to go,
and punched the accelerator with all of my toe.

Blue lights are gone,so off I go
Heading with me horse to the RDS show.
I've parked the trailer and cleaned up the ###te

I prance around and wave at the crowd.
Being number one would make me ever so proud.
Alas my horse he's a bit of a monkey
and in the end makes me look like a donkey!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

That's the last gig for my mate,
the last time I'll hitch her crate
to the back of my truck for my own pleasure.
Off to the sanctuary now pal for your deserved leisure.

The end of the tale by good ol' Auspicious
Suggests that his horse now 'sleeps with the fishes'.
And talking of sleep- it's my time for the sack.
Perhaps some time later, I'll try and come back.

    Rhymes are a tonic

    of the keyboard is guessed.
    The P-paint can't be seen,

In a rush I turned 'round,
on the ground there I found...

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

An old letter soiled with dirt.
    And it began, Dear Bert,

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

Where the hell are you now what have you done?
The place is mental they're looking for a gun!
Tommy was 'round and he's not happy.
Will ya get yourself back and make it snappy.

Tommy, that one is a gun, my son.
You can use it for shooting, looting and rebooting.
If unarmed, you will be unharmed
So don't pick it up, or stick it up: Walk tall, and stalk all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

Using your skills you'll be sound
but either face Tommy or go to ground.
Keep your head and don't back down.
You'll get nowhere if ya act the clown.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

Less of that! the virus is here
Now we have much more to fear.
    Pull together to stay apart
And hold your breath if you smell a fart!

The doctors need PPE, the Chinese CCP
are giving it for free.Turns out it's a load of crap!

Fifth o' May is a way away some disclaim
with dismay. Let us out and let 'em die, I
don't give a sh1t sure their end is nigh.
    I'm entitled don't you see, I don't mind being life's enemy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

National populist protests sustain the spread.
Embattled care workers look on with dread.
Chests rise and fall mechanically. We hope
quick for immunity, while we cope.

    All's not lost, nature rebounds.
Animals tread boldy with less human sounds.
Their future looks bright in the coming days
But only if our attitudes change in many ways.

The wind rescinds the Sun's appeal and any more rain I'll surely squeal. For now I might have a beer and just enjoy the starry night.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

Still no rain. Sunburn's a pain. Though.

Once those lives didn't matter now they do.
Then other lives didn't matter. We changed our views.
More lives again we realised didn't matter. How untrue.
But these, those, they don't matter. Still we pick and choose.
Will we ever have a clue?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

Voluminous silence has a semblance of defiance.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,497 ✭✭✭auspicious

Rhyming's easy , say what you feel. Don't worry about squeals. Be forthright in your appeals.

    I opened the door
    and fell on the floor
    When I stood up
    I knocked down the cup
When I looked at the floor
I got a smack of the door
I moved out of that room
And walked straight into a broom
    So I headed for bed
    With a very sore head

Up in the morning and down the stairs.
A rumble in me tummy I grab some pears.
A glance at the clock illicits a shock,
and off out the door wearing only one sock.

I returned to the house to retrieve some footwear
That when I noticed my pants had a tear
It was the draught that gave it away
When my balls fell out and began to sway
