siemens e12 46 washing machine not spinning !

    Evening all, I have a Siemens e12-46 washing machine which is washing & draining fine but not spinning at end of cycle, I cleared some debris from pump chamber at bottom front right & opened drain pipe which released small amount of water (1/2 pint), pump turns freely by hand but did not solve but problem, when dial is turned to spin mode a humming motor noise is evident but drum does not spin, drum turns freely by hand..no error codes are displayed, any ideas?

    it needs a set of brushes in the main motor, clean up the comm in the armature when fitting

    Thanks M8, it actually spun today but I didn't like the sound it made as got up to 1200rmp, I'll take your advice.
