Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. The back and forth "banter" from both sides is awful, ye need to step it up.

    I'd go with Triggered

Barkley is the designated penalty taker, Lampard quite clear in the interview.

Can't stand Chelsea but thought Lampard was class in his interview. Gave a very clear answer that killed any controversy, didn't get aggressive or snotty and conducted himself brilliantly.

Always liked Lampard, seems a good guy. Hope he has a good career - just not with Chelsea.

It's been months and months since some felt they had anything to banter with, while others felt they had so much it wasnt really fair to say anything.

Unlike Ole. At least Lampard has made it clear on who it is.

    Fair ****s

Wow, another pointless point scoring salvo.

Partially quoted T.Hanks^ original post to get a totally unsubtle dig in.

It's clear as day that T.Hanks^ was commending Lampard for making a decision and sticking to it, showing who's in charge and having a designated penalty taker even if they miss.

But any point to suit your argument eh.....

And people reckon United fans are triggered/obsessed/good old boys and T.Hanks^

What's that old saying "offended by everything and ashamed of ..... "

Good night last night with all the English teams losing, hopefully the trend can continue tonight.

    Teams for Olympiacos vs Spurs:
Olympiacos XI: Sa; Elabdellaoui, Semedo, Meriah, Tsimikas; Guilherme, Bouchalakis; Podence, Valbuena, Masouras; Guerrero.

Tottenham XI: Lloris; Sanchez, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Ndombele, Winks; Eriksen, Alli, Moura; Kane.

Nice to see Ndombele back. Bit surprised Aurier doesn't start after he played well at the weekend. Rose hasn't travelled either so Spurs could be vulnerable at the FB areas.

Valbuena can be capable of moments of magic. Interested to see how he gets on.

I'll say 2-1 to Spurs. Son off the bench might be needed at some stage.

In spite of commentating on TV for the last 30+ years, fvcking George 'danger here' still hasn't learned that he's commenting half a second ahead of the pictures, or RTE have never learned to fvcking adjust the commentary to match the pictures. It's fvcking very bad tonight, and very annoying!

Are you accusing him of being in the future?

Or maybe it's a technical issue...

    Kane wins a peno.

And he makes it 1-0. Goes down the middle. Olympiacos had been doing well.

    MOURRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

What a hit. 2-0 Spurs. Looking good for Poch's side.

Comon spurs finish them off before half time.
    Crazy game so far

Great save by Migs to keep Brugge at parity

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

2-1. Podence makes Poch's team talk at Half-Time more challenging. Sets things up nicely for the second half.

Here are the line-ups for probably the two biggest games this evening for neutrals. Which one you going for?
PSG XI: Navas; Meunier, Thiago Silva, Kimpembe, Bernat; Verratti, Marquinhos, Gueye; Di Maria, Icardi, Sarabia.

Real Madrid XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Varane, Militao, Mendy; James, Casemiro, Kroos; Bale, Benzema, Hazard.
Atletico Madrid XI: Oblak; Trippier, Savic, Gimenez, Lodi; Thomas, Saul, Koke, Lemar; Joao Felix, Costa.

Juventus XI: Szczesny; Danilo, Bonucci, De Ligt, Alex Sandro; Khedira, Pjanic, Matuidi; Bernardeschi, Higuain, Ronaldo.

Very tough call but going to go with PSG/Madrid. Want to see how Icardi and Hazard get on. Have a feeling Benzema and Hazard are going to have a special evening.

  • They deserved that tbf. Thought spurs got the peno against the run of play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Valbuena wins a pen. Not sure about that. Let's see what VAR says. VAR gives it the okay.

And Valbuena makes it 2-2. Game on. Must be time for Son shortly.

Atletico vs Juve is interesting tonight.
Strange look to that starting XI for Juve. I didn't expect to see Higuain, Cuadrado, Matuidi, Khedira & Danilo all starting in the same team outside of the Coppa Italia. I haven't seen them once this season so Atletico are an unknown. Costa's style could cause trouble without Chiellini.

It's a technical issue that's been going on for years. Really poor from RTE.

Does anyone else find Conor McNamara extremely irritating to listen to? That put on accent....*shudder*

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

It ends 2-2 in Greece. Good point for the home side considering they were 2-0 down. I think a draw was a fair result.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,820 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Some comeback, Spurs looked out on their feet the last ten minutes, hanging on, nothing in the tank.. Olympiacos we’re tired themselves and if they had a bit more in the tank they could have pushed harder and made a few less mistakes...

Bizarre watching PSG and Madrid wearing their away colours when they could have the same effect wearing their home colours.

    Goal for PSG

1-0 PSG. Di Maria scores against his old club at the near post. Courtois not great there.

Di Maria makes it 2-0! What a great strike. He's in the mood tonight.
    ShaneU wrote: »

Not sure. Probably some commercial reason.

And Bale makes it 2-1! Instant reply.

VAR shows there was use of an arm. This will surely be chalked off...

And it is. It stays 2-0.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,611 ✭✭✭✭ERG89

Keown & some other gink says Bale handling the ball is a problem with the handball law. He sets the shot with his arm ffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

    VAR takes so freaking long.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Half-Time and PSG lead by two goals. I think they merit the lead although the scoreline should be closer. Madrid without a shot on target despite there being good chances, whilst PSG have taken theirs. Di Maria has been the standout player. Hazard has been quieter than you'd expect. Probably not fully fit yet. Bale's had a few sighters.

Some surprising scorelines elsewhere. Leverkusen 2-1 down to Lokomotiv Moscow and Atalanta losing 3-0 away to Dinamo Zagreb.

Half time there in Atleti Juve 0-0. Fairly equal at the moment, defences are definitely on top. Joao Felix is class, ran from his own half and brought a good save from scezny. Atleti getting joy down the flanks. One thing that I noticed is the strange team that Juve have out. Very much lacking in creativity. Should probably take off matuidi and put in Ramsey. Also, how is cuadrado playing? Bernadeschi must be terrible in training.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Jesus christ what a goal by cuadrado haha

Trevor Welch doing my head in with how he pronounces Marquinhos's name (or Mar-Quinn-Hoss as Trev calls him). Keith Andrews has even said the name properly and he's still taking no notice.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

2-0 Juve!! Matuidi header. Lodi and trippier are being well beaten tonight. Grand going forward but poor defending, goes to show how good Juanfran and Felipe Luis were, could do both.

2-1!! Savic! Koke with the ball in from the free kick, Jiménez with the knock down and Savic to finish It off. Great game, crowd going mental.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

    Juve beginning the shíthousery.

3-0 PSG. Meunier caps off a deserved win by catching Madrid on the break.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,855 ✭✭✭irishguitarlad

Boooom! Herrera with a great header from a trippier corner. Atlético deserved a draw.

Zidane off to a terrible start.

    He won't see Xmas.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Full-Time and Paris win it 3-0. Deserved victory for the home side who dominated the midfield. Gueye and Verratti were terrific. Di Maria very good too. Bernat also impressive. Madrid will rue not taking their chances but they didn't deserve anything from the game. Thought tonight might be the night the Benzema/Hazard connection came alive but it still needs more time. Hazard still has to develop an understanding with his teammates. He worked hard but didn't offer a lot in attack. Not sure if he's fully fit yet.

Very impressive result for Tuchel considering Mbappe, Neymar and Cavani were all out. They have the squad now to make a serious challenge. Just a case of whether they can put it all together in the knockout rounds.

Finished 2-2. Héctor Herrera had a great game when he came on and scored a great header. I thought Partey was very good before he went off. Cuadrado was fantastic for Juve in the second half, pjanic was excellent as always, Ronaldo also nearly scored a wonder goal at the end.

Serious fire power there, and that was before Icardi joined.

Missed the match, how did he play? Looks like he was pulled early enough in the second half

Didn't have a lot of goalscoring chances but he did pretty well in terms of his all-round play. Hard to think of a PSG player who didn't play well. They all worked hard.

Juve will have to work on their set pieces.
Its night one but a lot of the big sides have a lot of work to do. I'd be amazed if Bayern, Atletico or Madrid do go far this year, they all dipped last season & haven't improved their sides much this season.
Real have looked this way for around a year now. Pretty leggy in midfield & dodgy at the back. Things aren't improving much since Zidane has returned. Stunned that's their first defeat of the season as they don't convince. I dont know what has happened Kroos, Varane, Ramos, Courtois, Modric, Marcelo & Casemiro but all have been very poor since they won the Champions League.
