    just coming up to 20mm now here near Tralee, very wet and dark since about 18.00 with heavy pulses of rain but no sparks. Has got very cold , now down to 5.4C. Radar has the telltale sign of frozen precipitation .

    Have noticed that too about the frozen precipitation, both at Shannon and Dublin. That cold air is now being dragged down from above in North Kildare as the rain has recently begun. Temperature dropped from 5.8c ten minutes ago to 4.7c now..... And it's still falling quite quickly.

    Interesting. I'm only out the road, 18mm in the last 24 hours, 3.7C easterly breeze.

    Most of that rain in the last few hours.
