    Hi All

A Siskin flew into my patio door and is very stunned. Alive but not moving.

Any recommendations on what to do?

This used to be an occurence where I worked in Xerox ballycoolin. The bird wont move for a few hours (3 or 4) Will probably have VERy SORE beak. The wings and legs SHOULD Be OK. It will then fly off.

    Thanks Xieann.

I just moved him so neighbours cat won't come across him.

Hopefully as you say, just stunned and will fly off eventually.

If he’s not moving after 5 mins, I would put him him in a (ventilated) box with a cloth/towel in and leave him in peace/quiet/darkness for a couple hours & leave him alone to recoup.

I would then release him and if he’s still not OK at that point, consider calling a wildlife rescue (but hopefully will not come to that).

I would think he is quite vulnerable at the moment outside not moving.

I have popped him under a bush on a raised bed away from cats and dogs.

    Would this be ok?

The same thing happened to a robin at my place, brought him or her(hard to tell with robins) into the kitchen he/she perched up on the kitchen table stayed completely still for half an hour and then flew off out the open window, without a word of thanks.

So eventually (about 2 hours later), he did the same. I was delighted!

I have quiet a few Siskins at my feeder, but they are such a lovely bird, I would have been devastated if he was permanently injured.

I'm in North Kildare. I have multiples every day, especially as pairs. They seem to love the peanuts.
