Anyone know of good sea swimming clubs to join? Does Half Moon have a webpage? I want to join a swim club to prepare for the Liffey Swim.

Might get some information on this website http://www.swimleinster.com/OpenSea/opensea.htm

There is an email address you could use to get club contact information.
It is my understanding Half Moon is a water polo club who hold some sea swims in Dublin during the summer months

If you rate how good based on success in the open sea season - look here:

    http://www.swimleinster.com/OpenSea/results%202010/Club%20of%20the%20Year%202010%20-%20Men.htm

You might do well to join a club that train near where you live.

You should also get some open water practice before the season kicks off at a few swimming spots were people train.

the Liffey is a bit iffy as to OW swims go as it can get quite dense in the pack, obviously you'll get some experience doing your qualifiers.

Ah it depends on how many are in your group when you have your handicap, some would have 6-8 but the Pre go like A/B lads there would be a good few alright...

To the OP where abouts do you live?....Half Moon is a great club and Sandycove/ Glenalbyn, they have great numbers which is why they do well at these sea swims in relation to club points. My club Templeogue have about 6/7 regular swimmers on sea race days..

    Hi,

I want to start sea swimming for this year, but have no like-minded friends to help train for tri's.

Anybody interested in a regular swim on the Northside... Thinking of the steps at the top of bull island some evenings of weekend.

Maybe do a 30 minute session...nothing too extreme.

    Anybody interested ?

    Acolmanj

Does anybody know of a sea-swim club based around the Portmarnock/Malahide area of Dublin?

Eastern Bay SC usually swim at High Rock every sunday morning, all the lads there usually compete in the Leinster Summer Sea swims. Nice bunch really

    Hi,

I'm also looking for the same info. Did you manage to find any information on clubs ? Swam from high rock to low the other day and it was tough out and very choppy deffinitely not a good idea solo !
