Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

As above, anyone know of a good way of recording minidisks on to pc's. Maybe hook it into the soundcard, record with software of some sort. Convert and burn to disc........

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanx,
    Conor

Spent a few mins on this one last night, figured it out and did up
a fairly foolproof guide. If anyone has any ideas on how to improve the quality let me know.

*How to record minidiscs to pc to wav to mp3 to audiocd,
master the quality of sound and other various ****e*

All the software you need is on the net.

You need a half decant soundcard, minidisc player or tape player,
and a bit of memory on the pc in order to save the wave.

Hook your minidisc player into your sound card, use the microphone jack. If you have a good soundcard it'll be easier to use the phono jack. There is two ways of recording on to pc. (That i know of) You'll need some software (its freeware or shareware so you wont have to pay).

There is no fast way of doing this unless you have a digital
recorder. You have to let the disk play into the pc for your
74 mins. Use Cooledit Pro 2000 or Multitrack Studio to record
your tunes into .wav format. There is loads of different
software out there so if you have something better, use it.

Once you have your tunes converted to wave you can master them to improve the quality with ur recording software. (Depends on what u use but most sound editing programs have little extras
built in to make this easier.) Now you have ur file converted to
    .wav or wave file.

Now to convert to mp3 format (if you have an mp3 player..
internal or portable). There is loads of free software out there
for this aswell. You can use Cdmaster32 by Zittware to start.
This software is fairly sweet cause you can convert AudioCd to
Mp3, Mp3 to .Wav and Mp3 to AudioCd. You can also master the
quality of the wave once its saved( you can restore the quality
to just under stereo) Which is handy cause you dont want a poor
    sounding cd.

Thats about it really, try different kinds of software for when
you record from minidisc to pc...quality would vary from company
to company. Convert the wave files to mp3 then delete the .wav.
Now you'll have a small hardcopy to keep in-case you scratch the
    cd or lose it.

if you have a reasonably good sound card and MD with spdif out you can use an optical cable from the MD to the soundcard. lots of mid-high end soundcards have this connection on them.

failing that I'd go for a spdif to usb adapter for the PC.

a quick google found this, but I'm sure you could get one cheaper with a little hunting around: http://www.zzounds.com/item--EDIUA1D
