Hypothetical littering question

    This question just occurred to me based on this post.

    If the contents of the bin becomes the property of the refuse company once put on the road by the householder,

    If someone was to upend/empty the bin on the street and the householder was subsequently fined for littering, is it a reasonable argument in court that they were not the owner of the offending items?
