Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hello, Just wondering if by any chance anyone might have any information on a Bridget Lyons who lived at 29 Chamber Street in 1932. She had a daughter called Kathleen in the Dublin Union in 1932, and I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who might have known her, or remembered where she came from originally, or where she went afterwards.

I am doing some family tree research and she is a possible relation of mine. Thanks.

Have you checked Thom's Directories or Electoral Registers for that period - both available upstairs in Pearse Street library - to possibly track her movements?

29 Chamber Street is listed as O. Maroney, wine & spirit merchant in Thom's 1930 and 1938

Could it have been a tenement or multiple rooms let individually above the shop?

the 1911 census shows number 29 as a public house, with 4 windows in the front and two cousins from Co. Tipperary as residents - presumably over or behind the business. Many of the other buildings on that section of the street are listed as multi-occupancy.

The Electoral rolls are definitely worth checking to see if Bridget or any of her family were registered at the address ..

OP: you can look at the electoral registers for Dublin from 1937-1965 on a computer in Pearse St library. It's the upstairs reading room and you'll need ID to get a reader's ticket.

29 Chamber Street was a licensed premises - Moroneys in 1929; advertised as the Tenter Bar in 1940.
