I’d say JD probably found it funnier in his head. Was lining himself up for a good ego-boost of thanks (like the first purchasers of a mass produced phone), and is now a bit sour because people didn’t find it particularly funny, and because it smacks of effort.

Apple taking advantage of the fact that there's millions of eejits out there, great bit of free advertising for them. There new iPhone is at most 1% better than the last one but that doesn't matter when most people are slaves to consumerism.

But nerds, or even geeks, have always fallen along these “battle lines”. You’d have your “Star Wars” vs “Star Trek”, “Apple/Mac” vs “PC” and then things like “Marvel” vs “DC comics”.

All supported with the same hostility and dedication as normal folk would follow a “sports” team. I’d say there’s a fair bit of “over-zealous” celebrating from the “Apple/Mac” side due to so many years of domination from the “PC” crowd.

You’d have to imagine that a lot of the “PC” supporters have “jumped ship” to fawn over the Apple products, similar enough to how so many Manchester United soccer fans have moved over to League of Ireland since their original “favourite” has gone into such decline.

I, personally, use an iPhone. The X, I think. It’s a grand smartphone. I wouldn’t fancy using an “Android” now just because it would take awhile to get used to using it. Same when you’d move from a Nokia to an Ericsson back in the day.

The blind “dedication” seen above is just a bit sad but if the people are enjoying themselves, and no one is getting hurt, I don’t see the need for the level of venom being spat at them here.

Can we get a few of us to go in and wait beside the pick n mix in M&S in town tomorrow, the first person who goes over and fill a bag full of sweets we start cheering them furiously, take a load of photos etc... we’d most likely be escorted off the premises, taken away in a van, sat in front of a state psychologist, have our driving license confiscated and possibly our freedom too....
